I don't like the wing. It's a bit gaudy to me, IMO...
I'm leaving the OEM wing on..

V,

Considering the above quoted post (and reputable source), not only your thread, but your posts thereafter should be deemed redundant, and stricken from the records of this here good forum. You're def falling off V..

I second that. the kits real nice, but the vs v1 wing isn't my taste either. the kit was a good choice tho.

Thanks guy. I chose it because I'm a conservative kind of guy and like parts that are not too radical, preserving as much of the OEM curves as possible. I need a full body kit to rack up all possible exterior points at the shows, and this one seems to deliver what I need.

So I test fitted the kit yesterday. It fits great, but for some odd reason Veilside decided to mold in an extra 1/8 inch thick plastic lip where the 3M double sided tape goes. What this does is push the side skirts 1/8 inch away from the body of the car. Perhaps they did this so that vibration wouldn't cause the side skirts to rub into the factory sides skirts and make scuff marks. Whatever the intentions were, I don't like the gap.

No problem. I just pulled out an all purpose shaver I picked up at Home Depot awhile back. I shaved the lip off, then pulled out a high speed grinding wheel and smoothened everything out. The skirts sit totally flush with the body of the car and are ready to be painted..

Vo,

Good write-up. Sometimes VeilSide, and other high-end J aero manufacturers will err on the side of adding too much, rather than not giving enuff. It's much easier shave than grow, especially in the urethane world. Sounds like you handled your biz. Glad to hear that you're stoked, regardless. Waiting for pics..

THanks bro. It took me about an hour to figure out how to approach the delimma. 1st I did the standard test fit. I had to remove the front and rear OEM mud flaps prior. Then I made sure the holes lined up. After that, and 3 beers later , I started thinking about shaving the tiny lip out. I removed the factory double sided tape with a razor scrapper, then tried a high speed Dremmel grinding stone. It was too high speed and started melting the plastic. I then started using a regular steel file, but that took too long. The heavy duty grinding wheel on my regular grinder was too fine also. I then remembered buying a shaver back in the day just because it looked cool. It's one of those tools you really don't need at the time, but buy it anyway because you figure it might come in handy one day.

It did. It shave the lip off beautifully, though messy. I use the file afterwards, then the stone grinder to smoothen it out. I should have them painted this weekend or so...

V,

Outstanding resume sir! Hired! (You'll be required to drink on the job, of course). In all seriousness, wow, you may be the first customer to have had to do that much trimming. I'll notify VeilSide of the issue.

D (hopes the brew was also imported)
