350z makes it into forbes top 20 dangerous vehicles
Anyone who reads this forum knows that the Z attracts every moron under the sun. The car itself has 5-star front & side impact ratings and every goddamn safety gadget under the sun as standard equipment or an option. But that can only go so far when you have idiots drag racing them on public roads and running into solid objects at high speeds.

The following is right from the Forbes' article. The article discusses cars that are unsafe because of design. As the following part of the article shows, the Z has a high death rate but it has nothing to do with the car.
"For example, the Nissan (nasdaq: NSANY - news - people ) 350Z has a death rate that's about double that of the average sports car.
But it's not for the reasons you might think. In this case, says Russ Rader, communications director for the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), an organization that represents the interests of the insurance industry, the 350Z is part of a group of vehicles that tends to be driven by younger, less experienced or riskier drivers, and stands out for having high death rates, through no particular fault of the car. "

Those most dangerous car statistics are ridiculous. A sports car is the safest car type on the streets as long as you don’t drive faster a normal – better handling, brakes and overtakes faster etc. However, the reality looks different b/c most sport car owner drive faster as normal with their sports car – result more accidents and bad statistics and therefore higher insurance premiums.

Im betting the Z would score high on the "Top 20 most bad driver attracting car" though
If you remember last year Forbes magazine the same good people who present this info....which as just everybody else has also seen is not on the top 20 list.....welll er uuuuh they rated the NiSSan 350Z over the porsche boxter, in every category and even asked why would you spend the $$$$ to get a lesser car, maybe the prestige of the porsche brand. Take these fOOles for what you will, the cars are very well equipped with safety features, abs, vht, ect guess it comes down to the loose nut behind the wheel.
Yes they run like a bat with a few basic mods, though as I have been reading in the past weeks it seems some readers can't seem to keep their Z cars pointed straight in rains, not sure if they are using the traction control or not, or it is just easier to spin the wheels in a wet situation. Great cars require concentration, and attention to our surroundings.

just just about to say the same.. its not in the top twenty at all.. S2000 made it though lol.. but NO Z in there..
Yep. The Z isn't a dangerous car. The driver is the dangerous one. Majority of all these Z crashes are at excessively high speeds, and majority of those are kids under 21.
They should make an age limit and drivers license of at least 5 years before buying a sports car.
