Default local tax rate

I live in NYC and the tax rate for us here is 8.25%

so Im wondering what you guys have for your tax rate on your car. Im willing to travel to NJ, CT or even PA if the tax rate is worth going that distance.
So can you guys help me out and tell me how much tax you have in your area.

Or does it not matter? and regardless of where you buy you still have to pay for whatever tax you have in your local area?

That's correst.. You will pay the tax rate from the city YOU live in.. I purchased my "Z" from a location where the tax is 8 1/4% but was charged 6 3/4% tax which is the rate where I live.. Better hurry as the tax rate will be going up a bit in the city soon..

Good Luck..

It depends on where you register the car.

Had I bought my car in Mississippi, I was actually going to register the car there in order to pay MS taxes instead of Ohio.... and then just register the car in OH later. I can do that because I'm originally from MS and just moved to OH in Dec.
