and how much canadian is an m5 when it was new?

wouldn't you think it's a bit better in some terms?

2001 M5 over an 06 350z? I think I'd pick the Z for various reasons. Now, the 04+ M5, that would be a different story.

Z --> M5

Apples --> Oranges

$30k --> $100k

It's no comparison.

Actually 06+, 03 was the last model of the E39 M5.

But in all seriousness the E60 M5 is anywhere from 70-100k used or not.

I drive a 2002 m5 everyday, it never ceases to amaze... the ride, handling, and speeds above 80 mph are wonderful and are unmatched by the nissan. I have been a Z fan for along time and am all about the nissans, my mother took delivery of the 2nd 350z to hit hagerstown, md, so i was out ******* it the next day. The ride turned me off....BTW I ran 13.0@ 105 stock in the m5 on street tires with only 2 passes and a check engine light, so it does run pretty well. Plus they don't have all the audi glitches. Mines for sale, so come and get it

If I were in the market for a 4-door, I'd be all over the E39 M5. E39 > E60

the 03 clutch I had was as stiff as a dump truck.

I have driven enough clutches. it was very stiff. I now have a 06 clutch in my car... it is a piece of shit. way too soft, terrible engagement point... weak.

I remember adjusting the clutch pedal height on my 03 because the engagement point was too high off the ground. Surely you can adjust the pedal in a later model Z to overcome the high point, right?

I believe the 03-04 clutches were significantly stiffer than 05+. That was one of the main disappointment Jeremy Clarkson had when he reviewed the Z on Top Gear. He said driving the car was a tough workout.

I've only driven the '07 and the clutch feels good. Not quite as stiff as my '03 s2000, but really close. Is the '06 softer. It makes the clutch in my TSX feel like it's not connected to anything.

he also thought that about the M5, and this is the E60, not the E39, but later realized his mistake... he is a horrible person to review cars, he's just good for comedy.

Why would you prefer a heavy clutch? If it engages well, what's the problem having light action? If you want a heavy-a$$ clutch, drive a Mustang Cobra. Your calves will be screaming in pain after driving in traffic.

Macho BS.

And the 3 serie's manual feel isn't all that great, imo. The shifting action is rather stiff. I personally love the NSX and S2000 manuals. Pure bliss.

Not to get O/T, but the the 2000 is amazing in terms of shifting. But the Z is very, very good!

M5's eat up clutches- I believe that from the factory it was too small to handle the torque. Also research Carbon Deposits- A problem if you need to be CEL Free at thebtime of inspection. 00-03 M5 is my favorite car by far though (only if I could afford to repair it!!)
