any thoughts?

LMAO@downforce fins... try vortex generators. They actually work, BTW therefore un-ricing them. Along with the very functional wing and very functional hood vent.
I do agree about the tails, but doesn't the JDM Z come with them too?

And the vortex generators have a purpose I'm sure, but something about using so much new technology and putting it over the back seats of a 4-door car seems just not quite right.

Actually, my car has wheels, a lip kit, and vented hood. However, the turbo kit went on before any of these mods. Even with all this I don't think anyone's ever called my car "rice" in a derogatory sense.
Just like the overused and watered down term "rice", likes and dislikes differ from person to person. What one refers to as "rice" may be totally acceptible to others.
Any car that can outperform porsches is difficult to classify as ricey. Still, put a ten foot wing, altezzas, a mismatched body kit, crappy vinyls and nos stickers all over a z and you can make it look riced out. But even under all of that nonsense, it is still a focused, refined performance vehicle. Next time your coworker injures your pride, ask his girl what she thinks of your car. Maybe even ask her to get some sushi with you ;-)
Doesn't really look like a ricer at all. The only thing that would make it a ricer is if it has the point wide body kit, Boeing 747 Spoiler, unnecessarily loud overly annoying muffler (like almost every civic you see) that's what I consider a ricer.
One thing I hate more than ricers though...is 'pimped out' cars. I saw a Z with these huge chrome 20's pumping gangster music, the guy was on his cellphone and he had the gold-chain license plate border. Ok, 'gangsters' pretty much took over most of the cars and paintd a nice stereotypical picture on most cars (mercedes, hummers, cadillacs, chrysler 300's, escaldes)..but hell I will refuse them the right to take the Z's image down with them.
