OK - here's my take based on the OP's opening post -
Torque - who cares, the Z is faster overall anyway
Mods - both cars are mod freaks - but the Stang will be cheaper to do so
Sound - they both sound good and can be modified to sound even better
Interior - one is American - the other isn't - don't try to compare - one has a backseat
Handling - if your buying/considering a Mustang - handling isn't a priority
Stereo - they both suck - change the speakers, add an amp and a sub
Rarity - they are both well purchased and market flooded
Exotic Appeal - they are both just as exotic as they are not exotic - you want exotic? Buy a Porsche or something else - maybe a Vette
SO - as most things look pretty equal - including price - your down to 1 car has a back seat and the other doesn't.
Either Buy a G (if the backseat really is needed for you) or buy a Z - and get everything your complaining about being wrong with the Mustang, right the first time.
IN FACT - buy the cheapest Z or G - AND buy a stang - Cobra or GT500.

And that acronym explanation is lame. You know what is meant by someone saying "rice."

Great responses, and a ton of them to boot - I'm pleased, and appreciate the effort. What I don't appreciate, however, are the childish responses filling up 1/3 of the reply-slots thus far. I posted this same thread over on StangNet, perhaps the largest Mustang site on the web... and didn't get any trolling responses or trash-talking. In fact, most of them complimented the Z, and many of them were in agreement with how great a car it is. Thusly, its a bit ironic that we have people here calling Mustang owners "inbred hicks" while the Mustang owners seem to be more capable of having a civilized discussion on the topic.
With that said, more or less it everyone seems to agree that it comes down to Torque and cost of modding, to handling and overall quality. Everything else is more of a personal taste issue, which is why this is so tough for me - I love both cars so damned equally, it's becoming a real pain in my ***. I'll probably have to fork out and rent them both for a weekend each, and make a decision that way.
Gah. I hate this. I need to make enough money to afford both of them. That's the ticket.

ok...first off...the award for most improved player has to go to the mustang...no kidding i love Z's and push it at the track...but a buddy of mine thought it'd be funny to rent a v6 mustang and rag it at the track...holy crap...the handling is scary better than any previous years...it's still not even comparable to the Z (on the track...road racing) but man that thing felt good...really good. I also have another friend with 5-6k in suspension on his stang and some chip work...not really sure...but he's running fast as hell...never had the Z on the track with him but had my 944 turbo (race car) and he was able to hold his own...i'm convinced...i think if you knew what you were doing you have a real contender...when they go independant rear end on all of them...i think it will be a perfect track car...anyone have a feel for the no kidding balance on the car...actual corner weights?

None of these things are really deal-breakers, but they are things to consider. Either way, you will really have a fun car, and both have pretty divergent modification pathways.
