Question VIN# issues ?!?

Ok so in November of 2005 I bought a 05' 350Z from a nissan dealership in Arlington heights... The car is a touring edition with every option but brembos (im even talking the storage pouch behind the passenger seat with the Z logo). The car had 400 miles on it and the story was "it was purchased by a woman who wanted a convertible with the same options as this one, but had no patience to wait the 3 weeks it would take to ship. so she purchased "my" Z and drove it for 3 weeks till the convt came in." Now I'm no idiot, i know how this sounds but they pulled up a carfax report and paperwork of her "the lady from the story" buying both vehicles.

Once all the paperwork was done and I was waiting for the car to be detailed I called my insurance agent. I told him the vin# of the car i just purchased so that he could start the paperwork. When he ran the vin through his system it came up with my new car being a 35th anniversary edition. Now...the sticker on this car when it was new was 38k (like i said, every option), but the sticked didnt say 35th anniversary and neither did my salesman?

So the point of this story...I NEED to sell my Z and I NEED as much $ for it as I can possibly get (time to stop renting and buy). If i sell it as a touring edition the potential buyer will see a VIN that registers as a 35th anniversary edition and think something is up, if I sell it as the anniversary edition I morally feel wrong because I know it is not one...so thats not really an option. Dealer trade in.........not so immoral?

Thanks for any input!

I dont think by tagging it a 35th ann ed is going to make anyone pay more or less for it honestly.

I feel honesty can't come back an bite you in the butt later. Sell it as it is...a Touring.

Often on ebay I see guys trying to sell a fake 1984 300ZX Anniversary Edition as the real thing. They're showing that they are either stupid, crooks, or stupid crooks.

I haven't seen anything in the VIN documentation that identifies 35th anniv cars or any other "trim" like Touring, Track, Performance, Base.

Call Nissan North America and they should be able to look up the details on the car and tell you stuff like model, options, etc.

BTW - a real 35th anniversary car will have a metal plate on the console that identifies it as one. It will have a serial number (1 to 1000 IIRC).

I can't say anything because when I bought my car it was labeled at the dealership as an Enthusiast. Come to find out it was really a Performance model. My friend, a fellow Z owner pointed it out to me. Well today I was bored and called my dealership to have them run the VIN. Sure enough it was a performance model!!So I guess I lucked out...

My car was put up as a GT, and I know that it most certainly isn't. No brembos or forged rims. Dealerships are so stupid.

I work in a nissan dealership in SoFl and by typing the VIN number in my computer I can tell what trim the car is... I've had issues on the 2005 in which they were a 35th anyversary edition and when I ordered parts I received parts for an enthusiast... I would take it up to NNA
