Default Trusting Nissan to put old car back to stock

What's up everyone. I have an 06 EVO IX with a few mods. I'm trading it in only after 6k miles due to gas mileage and a few other factors. The dealership that I'm dealing with is going to pay off the car but said they will take off all my aftermarket parts for me. I have cams, turboback exhaust, gauges, turbo timer etc. Should I trust their mechanics or should I just go back to the shop that installed everything. Thanks for the info. Hopefully I'll be in the seat of a Z soon.

If your trading it in, what do you care?

They are paying the car off in stock form. So all the aftermarket parts I would lose out on. They are only a few months old. Sounds like I'm going back to my tuner's shop. Thanks for the info.

Gas mileage for Z: 20/27
Gas mileage for Evo: 19/25

Pretty close ratings here, but I am sure you are having trouble keeping off the gas pedal due to the turbo pleasure And your mods probably don't help much either right? What other reasons are you thinking about getting rid of the car?

You'll like the torque in the Z. I have a lot of fun under 4k rpms.

Also, I average 25 mpg city AND highway. Obviously, having an 03 might be totally different from a new Z.

Good luck!

return it to stock before you trade it in......
if you let the dealer do it.... they'll just give it away to an employee, sell it on ebay for their own profit, or just trash it
yes a friend of mine works at honda and tosses all mods into the trash when returning "ricer" cars back to stock, even if some of them were worth quite a bit.

the shop you had the mods installed at MIGHT charge you for returning to stock, best to ask first and then see if you wan to tackle it.

if you can do it yourself, DO IT.... and sell it on an EVO forum and locally, someone will bite and you can still make good on those mods.

i dont like it when someone trades in their modded car, and then i see their car returned to stock... its like you giving away your mods.

but eh... in my town dealers are idiots and leave the mods on and sell the car for cheaper than they're worth or dramatically jack it up if they even have a clue.... but they normally wont touch it and leave it when it was brought to them.

Lots of modded EVO's, STI's, and S2k and very nicely done civic hatches go for cheap down here.....

Thanks guys for the responses. I've talked to my tuner and he's going to work something out with me in the morning as far as putting the car back to stock. I'm going to sell the parts to local buyers and use it to pay off some debt. Hopefully I can pick up the Z this weekend. We'll see.
