If i could get that rate, i would just personally borrow as much as i can be approved and simply put that on a CD or money market and get better rate and keep the difference on profit. Tons of financial institution offer a little over 5% on a CD with a minimum deposit of 15k for 7 months. I hope you know what i meant here!!! If not, then il explain it on a better way!!

joel I know exactly what you mean. Some people have no knowledge or common sense when it comes to money and interest.

C'mon now man!!! Majority of guys here are not new to buying cars. Many of us bought cars before the z. Im pretty sure that everyone knows about rates and all that. Who would spend a little over 20s on a z without knowing the calculation of car loan? I guess he is the only one coz he has the best rate of 1.2% on a USED CAR

I don't think my car is expensive. I got my 06 Touring for ~27k, but after trade-in it ran me 17k and then of course interest. I pay 370 a month with a 6.99% through Nissan. No one could do better, so I went with them. I'm pretty satisfied with my choice.

well i am most glad I took another look at this thread. I am 24 yrs old and not new to the Z scene though I am new to this website. As for the loan i worked my very hard through college at Virginia Tech and earned a 4-yr Air Force ROTC scholarship. I am now stationed at Randolph Air Force base in San Antonio Texas flying T-1's. I graduated in May 2006 and took the USAA military loan 25,000 dollars at 1.2 %. I invested some of it but about 18k went towards the car I have been looking at since its inception. I drove a beater for 6 years so i thought I deserved to own a sportscar of my choice. So please do no call me a liar......and do not be so quick to judge people.

That they do. They cost well over 50k brand new here in Canada (and our dollar is quite high, almost 94 cents US).

I bought my 03 used with 45k km/27k mi. last October, since fortunately Nissans have ****ty resale. Thank god it wasn't a Honda, lol. Which, actually, is what I used as a trade in, so I got a really good deal.

What's USAA and what is their number? I will re-finance my car right now with them.

Maybe? In Canada it costs about 55G's to put a new on one the road after taxes and fees. The average Canadian's takes home about 27 G's a year. So it's cost prohibitive up here, and you don't see very many as a result.
Our dollar is about par with yours now. As a result you see a lot of people trying to import them from the states.

Okay bud..to clarify one more time the loan is a one time deal available to officers commissioning into the military......25k max. USAA knows we have a a good job and that we will be able to pay the loan off...they also encourage us to bank with them which I have done. Credit card and all...so by offereing me the great loan I have chosen to bank with them as have mny of my buddies that graduated and commisioned with me. The number is 800-531-8222 if you are still not satisfied.

Fair enough... That will explain why you may have gotten such a low rate on a used car loan. Because I have perfect credit and I cant even get that type of rate with a new car loan even if I put $10,000.00 down.

Military personel do get special rates, and rightfully so.

He isn't bullsh*tting. I have a number of Navy friends who were able to take out 25k loans with little to no interest. My brother's best friend is a National Guard up in Syracuse.

My dad isn't even retired he only served his 4 years back in the day, and he still gets those rates from USAA, it makes me sad cause I don't, lol :P, here's what I've learned, want a really good rate on a loan, join the military or be a minority.
