we350z.com

My buddy bought a 300ZX Twin turbo with only like 30K original miles. It's in PERFECT condition. I think he has a list of mods there or at least some pics.

I love my car and I never see one around. The TTs have 300 hp and weigh a smidge less than the current Z. Depends what you like better. You have to baby the 300zx more, but I think it's totally worth it. They are rare and you get more looks from people who are truely into cars. But hell I wouldn't mind a 350z sitting outside my house .

Get a new Z. You will have a brand new car to enjoy during the 93% that you drive in regular day traffic. During the other 7%, you are not going to miss the 300zx. The 300zx is sick as hell, but like many have stated, its a VERY used car.

I had it for 3 years and only put 19k on it. It was a nice car, but I think mine was jinxed. I'll tell you what I like better about the 350 though, the travel of the clutch and the throws on the tranny. As well as the handling, its a little better. The bose stereo's in both cars suck. I miss my 350, the only thing I really hated about that car was the tire pressure sensor. Very annoying.

Not saying the 300ZX sucked. I loved mine, but they didn't take a step backwards in technology when they made the 350Z. It is a better car. Period.

Any by the way, I was talking stock vs. stock and not stacking a crap load of aftermarket crap on it. I don't care if your 300 was stage XXIVIXL. Put the same thing on a 350 and pull out a weenie ruler and take a new measurement.
okay I'll give to you stock vs stock the 350 will win and thats only if you have a rev-up of hr motor. And I never said the 350 was bad. It can out handle and is much lighter then the 300. But when it comes to bolt on mods the 300zxtt will have much more better gains. And if you want to ignorant about it read jared@z1motorsports thread.

P.S. The 300ZX has a way better interior than the 350Z and most of the people here have comfirmed this. My 350 is an 07 touring fully loaded and it went for $35000.00. The sticker price on a 1991 300zx Twin Turbo is $45,000 back in 1991 so what does that tell you in Build Quality & craftsmanship. You get more looks and complaments in the street in a mint 300ZXTT then a 350Z any day. But I still love my 350Z.

http://www.300zxclub.com/showthread....ghlight=weight

350z 3339 lbs
300zxTT 3480 lbs

Both cars could lose some weight, but the older 300zx edges the 350z out looks wise. The 350z IMO needs a spoiler to balance out the backside and make it look more aggressive.

That said I would buy a 300zx if they made them new, a newer 350z will cause less headaches. I will be buying a 350z pretty soon and I like that they have some ***** without having to worry about delicate turbo systems. You will replace the expensive turbos a lot if you really get on them all the time. They need to be warmed up and cooled down at very minimum.

I want a car I can DD and the 300zx isn't a wise choice as it is difficult to work on and expensive to buy parts for. Not to mention they are 11-18 years old and have usually seen several 16 y/o owners before you find them.

I rebuilt an NA 300zx and sold it. Fun car, especially with the TTops. The 300zx have all sorts of problems and the mint ones, especially TT, are very difficult to find and expensive.

You can chip the TT and run like 15 psi on the stock fuel system and get an easy 50-70 hp increase over the stock 300. Easily more if you upgrade the fuel system, larger turbos, etc. They can be scary fast with relatively little money in.

Bottom line is that the 300zxtt responds better to simple bolt ons and thats fine. Now if the 350Z back when it was first released if it had a stock turbo set up everyone would be singing a different tune.Yea the 350z would be more expensive to buy but think of it this way you probably wouldn't see so many on the road due to price.Which is good in my area i hardly see any but i know up in Florida and So Cal there like seeing a honda every where you look theres one.Another thing if nissan did give a stock turbo to the 350z which i think they should of we wouldn't have these 300zxtt vs 350z threads there both great cars and practically brothers they have the same Z DNA.

At best it would be a tie, I give the 300 the edge. The newer 350z's weigh almost the same. Could come down to who's the better driver.

I have owned both. a 94' 300ZXTT and my Z now. The 300ZX...fun car. That was years ago though. It was fast, it was stock and it had problems. One day I wake up, go to my car, get in and the entire clutch had dropped out of the car. Inexplicably mind you. Not to mention electrical problems. And you know stock for stock Id give the nod to the 350Z, in a straight line, throw in some corners and forget it, 350 ALL the way. The 300ZX had its time. That time was 15 years ago. Its time for the new Z....

Ive owned both.. my 90TT made 650hp... was nutz and i loved her very much. we had a lovely relationship.. although i spent almost as much time under her as i did in her driving round i wouldnt go back.. what a disaster of a car to work on.. i pulled the engine atleast three times and it never really got easier.. my new car is no where near as fast but it would run rings around the 300ZXTT on any autoX or track or even driving hard around the streets.. yip i miss her but not enough to go back sadly..

You can go around all day. I had both, and after two years with my 350Z i sold it. Forget about handeling and power. The 300zxtt and the 350z in the hands of a capable driver will keep up with almost any other car out there today As far as a daily driver 300zxtt is not the best choice. These cars require alot of care. They generate alot of heat and over the years hoses, clamps, and electrical connections go bad. I have a 95, and it is dead on reliable but with that said I would not commute with it just for the simple fact that stuff can happen on a 12 year old car.
There are far better cars for daily driving including the 350Z. In my opinion the 350Z is a great low cost high performance car. They mass produce them and anyone and everyone drives em. They will not stand the test of time like the 300zxtt. Not saying the 350z is a bad car it just doesntt have that soul and energy that the 300zxtt has. During the 90's there was a seriously competitive import sports coupe market. The 300zxtt is an example of a car where Nissan told the designers and engineers to do what you have to do to put out the best car we possibly can no matter what the cost. Hence a 40K japanese import virtually unheard of at that time. The 300zx did not get watered down by the bean counters and decision makers there fore leaving you with a car that still holds the benchmark for for nissan performance almost 20 years later.

Well coming from a guy who recenty owned a 1995 TT, well all I got to say is, if you want a realible car, then get a 350z. The 300zx is a money pit, theres always something breaking on the car, and it cost alot to fix also. If you have cash in hand, then I would say do a full rebuild on a 300zx, and make it a street monster, but if not get a 350z hands down unless you got money to throw away.

The Z33 is absolutely not a step forward in technology. In fact, it's a step back. You have to consider that the VG30DETT has more potential than even the VQ35DETT does. That motor was over-engineered, and meant to take increases in power like it was nobody's business. Not only that, but the Z32 had other technology in it like Super HICAS (four wheel steering). The car was ahead of its time, much like its rivals (Supra, RX-7, 3000GT). It was the high price tag that brought them to their downfall. The 350Z doesn't cost nearly as much.
