I got my DB 6MT Performance Z!
My Z was scheduled to be here on the 19th, but it was delivered on the 16th. My trade-in car was near-totalled early Friday morning, so I was not able to pick up the Z until Saturday (sans trade-in). I placed my order in February and it began building in March, from what I understand. My impressions thus far (100 miles or so in about 6 hours)...
I had originally planned on getting a CS, but I saw a DB being detailed when I was placing my order and I changed it on the spot. I thought the color was gorgeous. My Z is somewhat dirty as they didn't have a chance to detail it (I wanted to take it home), so it's not at its full glory. The color definitely attracts attention, a side-effect I'm willing to live with
After hearing all the issues with the suspension bouncing, I was somewhat concerned about taking delivery. I noticed the bounce in the test-driven track and touring back in February, but to be quite honest it is far less notable in my Z. I took it over the roads I felt would elicit this bounce, including a horrible bridge that has the very pronounced separations in the cement. This bridge made my Honda V6 coupe bounce, but the Z seemed to handle it quite nicely. It is somewhat noticeable, but to be quite honest I wouldn't have even noticed it had I not read all the posts on here.
I can't say anything about the tires, as we had excellent weather yesterday.
No window streaks as of yet.
Although I haven't analyzed every inch of the vehicle for orange peel, I have yet to notice any at any angle/light, etc.. If I were to find some, I'd still be pleased; paint looks excellent.
There IS a lot of road feel in the pedals and gearbox, but I don't see how this is a problem as some have indicated. I love the way it feels. I didn't notice it at first with my shoes on, but I can definitely feel it bare-foot.
I can't seem to find a good bass/treble setting with the stock stereo, but it's not a terrible system. My Honda has a better system, but I have heard worse.
Transmission feels great. I did stall it once or twice, and I had trouble transitioning 1st to 2nd for the first few hours, but I feel I've acclimated to it now.
My dealer did the initial test drive when I took delivery, and he ran the thing to about 70mph around a curve near the dealership. He rev'd it to at least 5000rpm in doing so, and I didn't have a chance to stop him. It was only for about a half a block, but it still pissed me off.
Sorry for the long post. In summary, I couldn't be happier with my Z!
