5th Gear Review of the 350Z : The reviewer kills it.

The reviewer on that show was correct on a couple points, but just flat out lambasted all of the Z's and made it a laughing stock. Sure, if you are used to driving Ferraris, Mercedes, Z06's, McLarens, and Bugattis (all of which he tests regularly), then the Z is going to appear very sub-par and cheap. But I think the only points he hit on that Nissan needs to improve would be the motor power, weight of the car, and interior fit and finish. Aside from that, he really slammed a car I would rate as a "B". The exhaust sound and motor sound? I love it.
ok this is the new one 2007!and i dont get tired watchin it!im proud to have my z!

OP this is older than the internet itself. What are you trying to prove?
Jeremy Clarkson is a dumbass... driving around and thrashing free Ferraris on the track, of course he's going to bash something like a Nissan. Spoiled *****.

1) He does a historical account of the Z and is critical of every model. My recollection of the 240Z was a very cool car that handled quite well.
2) He says the 350Z is a car built in Japan with a design team in the USA. Anyone know if that is true?
3) He describes the 350Z as a “muscle car,” but then states it doesn’t feel fast. Hey… car-reviewer-guy… is it fast, or is it not fast? It’s fast but doesn’t feel fast?
4) He complains that the exhaust noise is too loud. This is a sports car… not a Lexus. WT_?
5) When he has to opportunity to really drive the car fast (he mentions this at some point in the video), he decides not to and describes an adverse experience with fast driving. What does this have to do with the Z? You have to wonder why he didn’t put the car through its paces where it really shines.
6) His evaluation of the interior trim and fitment is odd. He states that the interior is decent, and then proceeds to wiggle the upper cubby door, the coin holder, and the overhead eyeglass compartment. That is pretty lame since none of these vibrate or rattle when driving the car. That was a cheap shot.
7) He doesn’t like the rear strut bar. I wonder if he knows why it is there.
He does make a valid point: The Z is heavy for a sports car.
This is an old video and review, but I bet this guy would come in with almost the same opinions today. He never mentions the competition (other cars that compare to the Z as to price and performance).
I purchased my Z in 2003 (a Performance model). Here are the other cars I looked at:
1) Porsche Boxter What I didn’t like: Only 256 hp on a fairly heavy car that was equipped with a 5-spd transmission (I’m talking 2003)
2) Mazda RX What I didn’t like: Sort of ugly, not enough hp, poor torque.
3) Audi TT Turbo: What I didn’t like: Only 222 hp, and getting there with a lot of turbo boost and low torque. The exterior was just too soft, rounded, and “cutesy.” I did like the interior (great retro look).
The 350Z in 2003 was very appealing (as it is Today): Lots of hp and torque, great exterior lines, and offered a lot of customizing opportunities. It’s a great car out of the box, but its real appeal is probably the fact that it adapts so well to customization. That is something the reviewer never mentions. I think he missed the point completely.

You really should get the "coffee table" book about the 350Z.
Yes, the design for the 350Z from the USA team beat out the design from the Japanese team (which looks a *lot* like the G). The primary designer is a British national whose family was from India.
