Default Why didn't Nissan equip 350z with "Intelligent Key?"

I saw a friend's 2006 Murano last week and noticed that he had the "intelligent key" where the fob just had to be in the vicinity and the car can be turned on and off without having to put the key in the ignition. WHY.....why not on the 350z?

... and all those bells and whistles wind up making the car weight more. It's a sports car, not a luxury sedan.

i wish our cars had that, or at least a different key or key fob... it looks the same as a sentra key!

Yes, thats true, our keys should remind us of our D*%s and every time we turn on our cars its like we are thrusting them into tight places.

Wait is that gay?

As long as the keyhole is now shaped in the shape of a vagina... I'd say it's pretty straight.

dude i had this on an 05 avalon i had for 7 months. I hated it. I really missed turning the key. It would really suck on the Z cuz u wouldn't get that satisfaction of turning the key and hearing that sweet sound

Yes. It goes against the philosophy of the Z.

Iono my buddies g35 coupe has this and I think it's kick ***... You just keep the key in your pocket and walk next to your door and hit the button and it opens. Get in the car, turn the **** without inserting a key... Ah... so jealous. People ask me "what kind of nissan do you drive?" I just say a sentra, "oh okay." Then they see me fly by

Not on the Z. I have it on my FX, but for the Z I don't want it. I enjoy throwing the key in and cranking the beast.

FYI, before anybody asks the question about why the USDM didn't get the integrated key...I went down that path a long time ago. The problem is that the integrated key/keyfob uses a frequency that is not permitted by the FCC.

Well, since I already have my car now and it didn't come with the intelligent key. Is there a Viper or other system with autostart that has an approach sensor and doesn't require the key to be turned to drive the car? Sorry if this question is confusing. I just can't exactly describe it.

I agree with this statement. The cars continue with the weight bloat and this trend is alarming. You can't have everything in the Z and have it weigh something reasonable. I already wish this thing was under 3K lbs. Adding things like that will just push the weight even further up and you'll have people complaining why the Z is so heavy.

If you ask me, I'd say the Z should come without a spare from factory to keep the weight down. I think turning that key when you get in the car has that magical feeling to it that would take away from it if they did the chip thing. Also, another thing on already a long list of things that can break on the car and immobilize it.

Finally, I think the Z key could look better. Just a little more style would be nice. My wife's Rav4 key has more style than my Z, for crying out loud.

Have it on my 07 Altima and love it. Guessing, 09 Z will have Intelligent Key, and watch people try to put it down while secretly having a man crush on them.

The new bmw's and corvettes have them. I actually think their pretty nice. The only thing i didn't like is if you left the car on and walked away with the key the car stays running. I almost kept some guys BMW key once because it was in my pocket and when i got out of the car i forgot about it because the car was still running.
