I hope base security, his chain of command and your insurance company teaches him a very important lesson.

insurance is supposed to return the car to pre accident condition. I think that Private deserves death....sounds like he was either going pretty quick, or he didn't get the hint of his car jerking to a near stop (since he pushed your car into another vehicle.) And from all the experiences I've had w/ insurance companies, you may very likely be waiting awhile...they can be ******. OH and terribly sorry to see your car looking like that, and I hope you have better experiences than I have.

At least in Washington state you are required to have insurance...it is a $584 fine (at least according to the cop that pulled me over last sunday) if you don't have proof of insurance in the vehicle.

When I lived in BC, (10 years ago) I think it was about a $400 fine for not having insurance.

Ouch, that's painful to see . Hope everything works out for you...I'm not marine but I know how you feel about the car "being there" for ya. Whenever I'm having a crappy day, or am pissed off about something, I just get in the car and I feel better by the time I'm done driving. Sucks that the other party was uninsured. Simonfencer is right about the $400 fine for no insurance, except I think it may be more now (I've never met anyone here in Vancouver dumb enough to try and drive around without insurance, especially given the # of horrible drivers here). Once again, good luck!

i agree and disagree at the same time.

i know my chain of command makes NCOs ensure that our soldiers have a valid license and current insurance as well. plus we have to inspect the vehicles from time to time. so if the chain finds out that someone is driving illegally, they make that person park the car and hand the keys over until the problem is fixed. further action from there happens if someone has a listening problem.

on the other hand, i think it's stupid to think that babysitting people will catch everything. i don't live in the barracks, but when i did, i had my First Sergeant come and ask me why some dumbass PFC went out, got drunk and got in a fight. i was in my room the whole time! sometimes people just look for others to blame, especially in the military. i am know that a person who screws up with something like not having insurance has nobody to blame but themselves.

to the OP - sorry about the car man, she was a beauty!

I am a Marine, and although I know you air-winger types are slackers, you are still Marines. So, that being the case, how the hell did Pvt Schmuckatelli get a base sticker without insurance? And, as others have mentioned, how did he miss getting inspected by the various members of his chain of command, from his fire team leader on up?

his insurance could have lapsed after he got the sticker? that would be my guess anyways.

lol @ PVT Schmuckatelli!
