Default new infinity g vs. '07-'08 Zs

are the new Gs really faster than the VQ35HR Zs? makes me sort of depressed about the Z if it's true.

bigger engine, more power, but also a lot heavier. it'll come down to driver and the 07 Z's will definately not be smoked by the new G's...

Depends on the track , the new G has a huge advantage in the brakes.

All road tests I've seen show the G37 to be just about the same as the old G35. They have the exact same 1/4 times and trap speeds. Even though the
G37 has more power, it also weighs (if it's even possible) more which makes the power-to-weight ratio the same.

An 07 or 08 Z will have no problem with a G37.

Well if you're going to magazine race.

Car and driver managed 13.7 @ 104 with an 07 Z. They also managed a 13.9 @ 103 with the G37. So given same magazine/track, the Z is definitely quicker. The G has about a 15whp advantage, a 3.69 FD (vs the Z's 3.54), but weighs 300-400lbs more.

wow. i was worried. thanks for the quick replies. i love my Z no matter what, but i still want it to be the fastest VQ car till the 370z comes out. i just see so many Gs around all the time. wouldn't want the new G drivers to get too confident. lol. plus, i imagine if i add a nismo exhaust and fujita intakes, i may go up about 15-20hp?, so that'll help.

+1 i also feel there's no point in giving up 2 seats and a useable trunk if my Z's not the quickest in the vq family even if it shares the engine hehe. but i've read that the hr's respond VERY well to aftermarket exhaust. go search in the vq35hr engine section for the thread.

yeah, but the g37 has an VQ37HR (if i'm not mistaken) as well. oh well, the 07-08 Zs are rarer. i just can't wait to see a stillen twin turbo kit on an '07 or '08 Z. the results will have to be amazing. it'll be nice to wave goodbye to a Ford GT or a Gallardo.

Theres no way, they don't have the power to weight ratio, and traction is limited in the Z through the launch (so gearing won't help the G much.

Z all the way through the 1/4, and lighter car is almost always quicker on a road course given the same engine (relatively....I know VVEL etc, but look at dynos).

whew glad to hear that z's are still fastest in the vq family. Even though i have an 03 its just nice to know, but infinity is coming out with a 500hp convertible g37 or something like that so thats going to suck.
