with the z, i don't believe you will ever fully learn how to drive it smoothly. You think you have, but you'll see how that will quickly change on another day.

your luck starting off with an 07. try a 03-04, the clutch is stiffer and higher then all of hell. i drove my buddies miata before i bought the Z for learning purposes. had very little problems driving it. it was a nightmare the first day i had the Z.

Just wait till you put in a aftermarket clutch/fly it gets real tricky then.

+1 Got almost 4k on my Z yet my 1-2 shifts are almost never always smooth.... and from what i read it's not just me, the Z is just difficult in general.

SF or DC? SF's got them hills...the best stick-shift training in the world. If you can parallel park your manual car on a 35 degree incline/decline without using the parking brake or burning the clutch or hitting the person behind/ahead of you, you've arrived.

(but until then...)

i started out with a civic hatchback stock clutch...then upgraded to a stage 2 clutch...then upgraded to a s2000...then upgraded to a 06 Z. by that time i had a lot of experience driving stick and never had a problem with the Z plus the clutch is pretty light and easy to handle. the shifts r not always so great but their as smooth as i can do it. congrats on learning! i hope u didnt wear out the clutch much

I bought my 03 used back in 05. I learned how to drive stick on it for the most part. I can drive stick decently if not better. I just upgraded to a CM FX300 clutch and lightweight flywheel. I think the engagement is 200% better and sooner.

Good job
Speaking of stalling, I stalled my Z for the first time in like million years lol
I got in the car this morning and for some reason I totally forgot that my car was in 1st gear when I started it..
Of course my car stalled when I let out the clutch. It jerked like a ****..the car even peeled out a bit and launched forward like a foot.
Damn racing clutch lol

Really you guys think its hard to drive the Z.
I hate mustang GT's clutch Love my 03 Z I have a 1991 300zx and had a 240sx and nissan has the best clutch setup with space between brake and clutch. I can granny drive or fly around town in either car.

Heres my 300 and my 350

have fun in your nissan bro

I think it's just the high engagement point, i really need to adjust the clutch...I'm about 6'1 not too tall but i feel as if I have to arch my foot all the way to the limit just to have it engange...

but i've gotten use to it, but i notice when my friends drive my car...my god its a rough ride haha...

+1

I learned on my BF's 03Z, and then purchased my own a few weeks later.

Totally different my clutch had a high engagement point and his was perfectly located in the center, go figure!
