Default I Miss My Z :-(

So my Z got lemon lawed about a month ago and I was sooooo frustrated with Nissan USA that I told myself that I would never buy another Nissan product as long as I lived..... The day after the buy back was complete I drove an hour and a hlaf south to pick up my new 2007 STi. Since day one the car has had ECU problems that they have been unable to fix.... I have descided that with 980 miles I am going to Lemon Law this car as well. To make a long story short the STi with the ECU problems could not beat my moms Saturn SC2. If this Lemon Law goes through I am gonna either get a G37 Coupe or wait for the new body to come out on the Z and pull the trigger on that. Until then.....

Chris

Yikes, 2 lemons? Sorry about the bad luck, but you'll find a good one eventually.

You sound like you need a new Z.
The Sti being a problem also, should be
a clear sign to you that you made a bad decision.
You miss the Z, and the Z misses you.
Give her another try...

Trust me guys.... You have no idea how frustrating this is.... I wish for a car that I could count on to go from light to light.... That is too much to ask evidently..... With the 2006 Z's there was oil consumption issues with all of the manual trannys.... I found out from Nissan North America what was causing the burn. With all 2007 STi's there is a problem in the tune that the car comes with from the factory.... I drove 3 different Sti's while I was at the dealership the other day and they all lost power through the powerband. Some were more noticable than others, with mine being the worst. As most of you know the STi is a pure bred race car. Plain and simple the car should not be loosing any power while at WOT.

Just wondering how many miles were on those STi that were test driven. Many mfrs are now installing software that limits the motor's power in the first 10K of use. I'd swear my Z ran better after hitting the 10K mark. That could have been a break in plus on my car though.

Maybe take the STi to a performance tune shop and see if you can get a performance tune. Make sure the can copy and reinstall the original profile so that IF it doesn't perform better it goes back to original profile. The only thing with that is if Misi notices the reflash is dated different from the last time they saw it you might have an issue. At least, that is how I understands it. Rememeber the Misi techs might not be allowed to do this to meet EPA or company rules. If you bring up WOT in court ... they'll say "Is this a race car or do you race the car." If you say yes ... all bets are off and the mfg will not have to honor. Just be careful want you say concerning WOT issues.

My guess is to get past EPA a carpy profile had to be installed. Just my ideas on the problem.

Hey Chris,

I was just wondering how long the whole "lemon law process" took for you?

I sent in my paperwork to my state's Lemon Law Department about a week ago.

Was just wondering how long it took for them to get back to you, how long until you did your hearing, and how long it took for the buy back to take place?

Did you get all your moneys back?
Did you get moneys back for any after market parts that you added to the car?

Thanks for any info and really sorry for your bad luck.
I thought one Lemon was bad, two is just really really bad....

Start to finish was about 3 months.... The process is different from state to state... As for the hearing... I didnt have a hearing, Nissan North America volunteered to repurchase my car bc of all the problems without going to arbitration. There is more than enough info on this site about the lemon law and how to approach the situation. If you need any help with any part of it I still have all my paperwork and would be willing to help out in anyway I can. Here is my number if anyone would like to call me.
