Default first wreck, took about a month...

well, wasnt anything too serious, but it still pisses me the hell off...

i was heading up the highway last night after meeting someone and selling them some stereo equipment, and all of a sudden WHAM!!

i saw it just a split second before i hit it, and speaking of this... does anyone elses headlights not project very far up the road, or are mine not aimed properly?

anyways... it was a tractor trailer tire, smashed up my front bumper, and ripped the shroud loose to where it is dragging the ground... not horrible damage, but the front bumper is going to have to be replaced...

ill get pics tomorow if anyone is interested in seeing it. i do believe ive had better nights

what year? if you have HID headlights then perhaps they're not aimed right cause they're bright as hell

How fast were you going? It is possible to "outrun" the headlights...

I'll have to say my headlight were aimed to low from the factory. They only lit up the first 100' Now I'm at about 125'-150' without high beams on I think. Much better, just that little adjustment. I compared my light refraction to two of my other cars just to make sure that I wasn't going to blind someone. They are still dim in comparison / aimed low.
I don't have HID's but there seems to be a cutoff that the reflector seems to produce on the light beam. That's one of the first things I had to correct on the car.

Been great ever since. I would like to install some passing lights for close range and wider vision but, can't seem to find a way to mount them on this car that is satisfactory. 24-42" above the roadway.

yeah, it could have been worse, i made it out with nothing but hurt feelings

thats what im wanting to do . just gotta talk to my insurance and see exactly how this is going to work. ive heard different stories about insurance giving the money straight to the shop, or giving it to the person. im hoping i can work out a way to go aftermarket, got my eye on one on here

its an 04.5, and i do believe it has the xenon bulbs, and they have been a complaint since i got the car... i also believe the car was wrecked or had some front end damage before. so them being mis-aimed is a definite possibility...

i was going along at 70

thanks everyone for the replies, i will keep you all posted on what comes of it.

My HIDs are bright as hell, but I can't see a damned thing in front of me. Because of this, I usually drive with my brights on, which are like looking into the hot inferno of a thousand suns. People get pissssseeed when I drive with my brights on. Maybe they do need to be adjusted.

Anyone who has HID's and cant see a damn thing, seriously needs to get them adjusted. I had the same issue, and after my car was lowered, it was even worse. Stop procrastinating guys, go out there tonight and do the necessary adjustment. I will guarantee you with my life, that the improvement in lighting, from such a simple adjustment, makes sucha huge difference, I almost wanted to smack myself for not doing the adjustment long ago. It is truly an amazing improvement, and you will see, what HID's are all about!

i have wondered about the need for adjustment since i first got the car

guess i should have been more pro-active about it. and if the adjustment of them is fine, then i am going to be modifying my brights to be on permanently, because these headlights suck...

If you have an 06, with projectors, and you say they suck, yours are obviously out of adjustment as well. I have an 06 G coupe, with projectors, and once I adjusted them, the distance in which they now lit up was amazing. I think I actually have to lower them again, because they sometimes light up road signs that are a bit high. Projectors are very directional, so a simple adjustment and it will throw out much more light ahead of you and not at the floor.

thats good info to know, and i (obviously) second the motion to go adjust them RIGHT NOW!!

i wonder if i could threaten carmax with a lawsuit for selling me a car that wasnt completely safe to drive lol. that would go good with the BBB complaint i have against them.
