past is the middle dot, its the heritage of the Z, where it came from, like the tunnel of its history.

the bottom dot is the present, the foundation of everything, as the present is the beginning of the future.

the top dot is the future, it is near the sky, where the limits are, and where the Z wants to end up.

no, I have no clue, I made that up totally.

just bored, so does anyone really know?

I think it's just part of the design--I don't think it stands for anything, just an accent.

The 3 dots represent the "3" in 350. When the 450 comes out there will be 4 dots.

rectangle with 3 squares, you can see it most prominently on the door handle, but they are in the Z of 350Z, 3 dents in the diagonal line.

they are also in the front reflectors.

It has been said that if you sit down, legs folded, and stare at those 3 dots for exactly 61 minutes and 17 seconds, without losing your concentration and focusing all thoughts on the 3 dots, that you will see a hidden image. Sort of like those 3D images.

lol!
you guys are friggin hilarious.
maybe it was supposed to be two dots, but someone messed up and added a third dot. maybe it was supposed to be even one dot...

anyway, this whole thing reminds me of that time when mitsubishi named their car "starion" after the mustang...was supposed to be spelled "stallion", but apparently the PR people ****ed it up and added a slight japanese accent...and they were stuck with the name "starion"

From the book 'Lust, then Love: The Story of the New Z':

The three dots stand for: "newness, high-quality and Z-ness"

Z33 = Z 3 squared = three squares. How's that for a good guess!

wouldn't that be Z 3 cubed? Z 3 square would be Z32, Z 3^2. but anyway, what the hell is "Z'ness"?

Well, according to the state of Indiana, ZNESS NV is an unacceptable phrase for a license plate as it may be considered lewd or vulgar!!!!

I dont have a clue but it seems like the 3 gauges on the dash of the 240 gives you the pattern of 3. Maybe they took that as a styling clue?
