Stay away from salvaged titles.
You just never know what kind of short cuts, and overlooking of safety issues were taken. Shell out the extra dough. Why buy half a sports car for 3/4 the money it takes to buy a whole one? Don't be cheap when it comes to safety and performance. A salvage title only guarantee's you with problems in the future.

Anyone telling you that an insurance company totalled...and paid on a car that only needed 1500 worth of work is BS'ing you...to total a Z you've got to really smack the hell out of it...i totaled my first Z and All State said...uh uh...we can fix it...and no kidding shelled out 25-26k to fix my car...the adjuster made a few mistakes or mine would have been totaled but what he told me was, as a rule of thumb...if it costs more than 70% to fix the vehicle they will total it...so realize that a car with salvage title has needed some serious money to fix it "right" or someone buys them...half asses it and sells it to you for a profit...now i'll be straight with you...you probably won't ever be able to tell...but you also don't know what expensive thing they skipped...could be water damage that left all your electrical corroded and ready to die...or structural and the Z won't protect you in a big collision...either way, in my opinion it's a risk i'm willing to take on a track car or fun car that i got for the right price...but it would have to be cheap...and after a good close look at the car...have a body shop look at it...those guys know what's been done...

i would never buy one because I wouldn't trust its reliability and trying to sell it would be a *****. and no offense to one of the members, but 18.5k sounds like a lot for a rebuilt Z. Then again, I found a great deal. You just have to look around.

Still think one like this red '05 is well worth $12-15K. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/05-Ni...QQcmdZViewItem
