Ready to castrate dealership service department
I’m wondering if any of you have had experience with this or work at a dealer and know what to do in the situation. My car was in an accident recently and it went to the dealer, got fixed, and got back to me. I drive the car back from the dealer and notice a loud rubbing sound when traveling on the freeway (damaged bearing they neglected to fix the first time) so I take the car back to the dealer a few days later. I got the manager of the service department to agree to take the car in and he said they would take care of everything, including contacting my insurance company to open up a supplementary claim and gave me a rental car. Now I knew I would most likely have to pay for the rental but I didn’t really mind because the car SHOULD have only been in the shop for a day or two. Well fast-forward to 4 days after I brought the car in: I call my service adviser and ask if the car is done yet. He says something to the effect of “we haven’t worked on it yet because you didn’t call your insurance company”. I argue with him that his boss told me personally that the dealership would be doing that for me. He argues back and says no, it’s my responsibility to contact the insurance. Well I call the insurance company and verify that the dealership DOES have to call them to open the claim, NOT ME. So I call back pissed and let the manager know what’s going on. The service advisor finally calls the insurance and they agree to come out and look at the car today (exactly a week after I brought it back in). So just now I get a call from Enterprise Rental (where I rented from out of the dealership) and they say I owe $400 for the rental car so far. Now I’m F***ing pissed as all hell… I figure I need to call the manager and b*tch him out but I want to check with you guys first to see if this is the right way to go about it to make sure I don’t have to pay for the week of rental charges. Do I have a case? I ask because I usually go either all or nothing… I’ll be very cooperative and non-confrontational or go crazy on someone’s *** if they have done me an injustice. I pray this won’t get ugly but from my experiences already with this dealership I’m sure it will be.

bummer, you should be able to get them to fix your car but as for the rental, since it was an accident, and not a warranty claim, and not covered by your insurance, you will probably have to pay for that. Just make sure they get your car fixed and next time get a subcompact rental if you're footin the bill.
then the dispute would be with you and the dealership and not with either your insurance or nissan. This is a hard part because all answers will point to yes we will fix the car and you need to get your own rental. You just have the make the dealer find a middle ground and work with you. its sucks.
I have no beef with my insurance company. I just think it’s unfair to be charged for a week worth of car rentals just to have my car sitting there at the dealership because they didn’t do what they told me they would which is contact my insurance company. I essentially could have gone back and picked my car up and dropped it off today to avoid having to pay for a rental for a week, and I would have done just that if I had known what was going to happen. They basically let the car sit there and didn’t even notify me about it. The repair will only take a day so there is no excuse for it to have been sitting that long. The service adviser even told me the car was sitting there because I didn’t call my insurance (even though it was their responsibility to call the insurance not mine, and even when I DID call the insurance they said that I can’t activate a supplemental claim, only the dealership can).

and get rental on your insurance if you don't have access to a backup car.
Its usually pretty cheap and even if you don't use it for years its usually cheaper than flipping the bill for a week of car rentals.

Damn, reading this thread reminded me that I have to add rental insurance to my policy! I always remember AFTER I had an issue! The last time I was gonna hold off, add the rental and call back like 5 mins later, I didnt think it was gonna fly though, lol.

Peoria is easily my favorite dealership. Bought the Z from Power Tempe and they were good to me (except for the finance guy), but I haven't been there since then. Avondale & Midway suck...haven't used Pinnacle before.
That's funny. Maybe it depends on who you deal with at each dealership. I actually liked Midway. But I am on the south east side so Midway (and Peoria) are not convenient. Might try Earnhardt for the next service visit. Will definatley not go back to Power though.
