I now have a testament to the cops' hatred of the Z. I was on I-95S on the way home...i end up being behind a state trooper right around the Smithfield area. The speed limit at the time was 70...i was doing 80 and the cop was staying about 4-5 car lengths ahead. He moves over into the right lane and maintains speed...i see him slow, so i slow to his speed (about 70-75ish). He then comes up to an 18 wheeler and has to slow more, i go on past doing 70-75, next thing i see is the grille of his crown vic in my ***, i pull over and he comes up to the window, being a complete dick and says:

"DO YOU KNOW HOW TO DRIVE BOY?"
i replied "yes sir, and i have no idea why you pulled me over."
HP: "You've been on my *** for the past 3 miles then you pass me doing 10 over the speed limit!"
me: "is the speed limit not 70mph sir?
HP: Its 65 son, give me your license and registration, i'm citing you for speeding and following to close."

I come to find out that the 65mph sigh was blocked by the transfer truck the the trooper slowed down for. Where he gets the idea that i was following too close from i have no clue, i know how to drive. luckily my roommates father is a judge in wake county and has some pull...hopefully i can get it taken care of...if not there goes $300+ for a lawyer....dammit

cops have issues with Z's becuase its quicker and better looking than there ***** crown vics that top out at 140. no clue what those new chargers top out at, but judging from the single exhaust im guessing its not the srt-8 or the r/t, so i doubt its that fast..maybe factory tuned.

It doesn't matter how fast the cop car is because you can't outrun a Motorola...

I never said everyone is. Due to the geoprahic location of FL, it's a popular route to get drugs into. Law Enforcement has to react accordingly, thus why they pull alot of people over.

I had the same situation happen to me. Followed the cop going faster than the limit, for at least 15 miles. Truck, shift in traffic, cop ends up behind me. Follows for a mile, I guess checks my plates, then just took the next exit. I never slowed from the speed i was following behind him/her with.

Palm Bch County cops need to be more of the example than the headache...It's okay for them to bob & weave on the I for no reason, tailgate for no reason, assume that just b/c you are in a sports car that you are a trouble maker, etc...And undercover unmarked cars....I don't have time or the energy to get it all online....they aren't God anymore than we are. Who doesn't speed ? But at least make it a legitimate reason to waste my time and pull me over....remember probable cause...

well I can't speak for another city and their police departments. There are quite a few towns I hate driving through just because I don't like to encounter some of the cops that give us a bad name. However i work in the southside of chicago so we generally have other things to worry about besides traffic, lol. In my area you will rarely hear about or ever encounter the "real" police unless your a "real" bad guy. But that's not to say you won't get pulled over for say tint (as probable cause) because your vehicle matched the description of a drug dealers car who just made a sale. But people still need to realize that good cops make traffic stops and write tickets. This is the reality of things. If cops didnt do this the roads would be a free for all and everybody would be on here complaining about how bad the streets are and how you have to worry about accidents everywhere.

Like I said previously, this topic is dumb. Does anyone start a topic about the jagoff working the fast food drive up window? No. What would be the point... Same thing here. There are jagoffs in all lines of work.

On a side note, i would be happy to help educate anyone with actual questions about the law enforcement field as long as the questions dont require any disclosure of police sensitive information.

And assuming you don't have a radio in your vehicle, you have no idea why a cop is speeding... .

i was on my way back to school this weekend and i was about 9 over. there are a ton of people going much faster than me but the cop singled me out and pulled me over. he wrote me a warning for speeding, improper display of plates, and a registration of plates even though my plates are legit. what a hater. i think police need to focus on real criminals rather than wasting their time pulling students over on the highway.

Back in the days, police used to focus on murders, rapist, drug runners, etc...
But they got alot of complaints from these criminals. All the "hard-core" criminals were saying, "I think police need to focus on traffic control cause more people die on highways from azswhole drivers like college students." Thats why police stop chasing "real" criminals and only do traffic now.

The whole point of my sarcasim is that comments like yours is very ignorant. And if you don't understand why it is ignorant, it only proves my point. Like how a racist person never think they are racist.

I've been pulled over four times in the Z since 2004.

Once, I was pulled over on Rte 78 going to Allentown. I was probably going about 86 when i thought I saw a car sticking out just a bit from behind the overpass. I eased off the gas and sure enough the radar detector went off. I did NOT hit the brakes, just eased off the gas pedal again so the next time he clocked me I was going 78. He told me he pulled me over for driving 82 and I said "well officer, let's face it, this is a fast car and I try to keep my speed to 78". He then said that he noticed I had slowed down after he clocked me so after chatting with me for a few minutes about where I was going and what I did he gave me a ticket for an unclear license plate (non-moving violation). He was even kind enough to give me my PBA card back.

Another time the cop came up behind me when I was in the left lane (he never clocked me) and said I was driving fast. The only thing that worried me was this was just after the car had the repairs from the accident done and my reg and insurance were in the back. Fortunately he believed me and did not think it was safe for me to go get it, so he just gave me a warning for excessive speed (although he could not tell me what I was doing and I didn't bother to ask him how fast he thought I was going).

Most likely the plate issue alerted him and he won't have pulled you over if you weren't doing over the speed limit. I was pulled a while back and the officer said .... Do you know why I pulled you over. Of course, I didn't want to give anything away so I said no. He said he saw my plate were missing. Then he said he notice that I was spending. He said, if it had been only the plates he would have let me slide. But, since it was the plates and speed he wanted to talk to me. I was cool to him and not a jerk. So, he let me slide on the speed and gave me the fix it ticket for the plate ... Whew ... I considering myself lucky that day.

I guess it's all in how you look at it.
