Default Prevent spider infestation

So its about that time where I have to store the Z for the winter. This is my first time doing it and my garage has spiders. The small whitish ones, when I park in the garage over night I almost always walk past a strand of web that is attached to my car.

Is there an easy way to either remove the spiders from the garage so that they wont come back?

Or is there a way to protect my Z so that the spiders cant get to it?

I've already had one instance when I was driving and found a spider in my car. That was the only time and it was months ago so I doubt there are any currently in the vehicle.

I dont store my Z for the winter, but i deal with the same damn spiders coming out of my tree in the front yard. I had one running across my dash one night when i was driving. I felt spiders on me the rest of the way home +1 to finding a killing solution.

You can get one of those car covers that zips up around the car. Kinda like putting it into a bag.

Something like this...

Last night I had a spider suddenly crawl out from under the front windshield trim where the rear view mirror is. Yellow/ whitish thing. Luckily I was pulling up to my house, so I gently scooped the bastige out and let him on his way.

Don't think there is much we can do; I was thinking the air vents could be closed (the recirculation button), but not sure if that actually closes off the outside or not.

I'd bug bomb the garage, that works real well to kill the eggs and stuff. If it's bad you could do it like once a month and they are pretty cheap.

Go to your local hardware, animal supply or garden store. Pick up a 3.5 gallon pump up sprayer and some insecticide spray. You can get some types of powder that suspend in the water and are left where you spray it when the water evaporates. This will give you a fairly long residual action but does tend to leave a gray powdery residue where ever you spray it. You should be able to pretty much eliminate the spiders if you spray a few times.

I didn't realize Cincy got enough snow to warrant storing your Z.

Try hedge apples. Put one in each corner of your garage. Spiders supposedly hate them. Hedge apples are lime green and about the size of an orange. They grow everywhere in the wild. We had a bad infestation of spiders in our basement and we put three of them down there. Seems to be working.

I"ll have to look into the bug bomb thing, that might be the best. Z-bag sounds promising too.

Seriously spiders, there arent any bugs in my Z, stay out. Little 8 legged demons.

Cincy doesnt really get a lot of snow during the winter, but what we do get is a decent amount of ice to make up for it. Combine that with moderate hills wherever you go and you've got yourself a recipe for disaster.

Hedge apples huh? Sounds promising, I'll have to look into that.

I hate spiders so bad...
That car bag looks sweet, and might do the trick, but I just have a feeling that spiders would somehow make it inside and they'd make it even worse.

Good point. My parents drove thru Cincy in 1968 and had a wreck during a freak snow storm. My dad said he'd never live there and ended up buying a house there one year later.

you can't get rid of the mantis, it is against federal law to kill them.
