I don't see any 2006 oil consumption problems (whether it is a major or minor engine problem).

Not really, it's just that the amount of instances for recent models is a lot less than the totals for older models. Give it time. If you look at almost any car's ratings you see the same thing, recent years look good, older ones look worse.

04 here with zero problems thus far. "well just the axle clicking TSB." Granted it has 22k mi on it, but when it does get driven, it gets driven hard. I take meticulous care of it; hope that’s enough and I got a good one. I guess only time will tell.

Consumers Reports provides the data on a large sample on 350Z owners. Engine reliability has been above average to well above average since 2003 in all areas. CR has a good reputation for coming up with accurate statistics. Makes you wonder if all those reports about oil consumption problems in the 06 model might be the complaints by a small number of Z owners that are not representative of the experience of most Z owners. The 350Z is a very impressive car. Consider those stats in light of the hard use many of the cars get in everday use by those who drive it hard. Compare it with the stats on other sports cars like the Corvette. The 350Z does a hell of a lot better.

Transmission Major - I've had my transmission replaced with CD008. It's grinding again.
Suspension - Tire feathering, of course. Nissan refunded me for every tire I bought due to this. Ever since it has been realigned, I've never had a problem.
Brakes - No, I've never noticed any brake problems. Has anyone else?
Paint/Trim - Paint chips.
Speaks/Rattles - Cheap interior panels constantly popping out of place.
Audio System - The rear left speaker has been replaced and a CD is stuck in the player right now.

Hate to sorta hijack the thread, but what is it about that rear left speaker that tends to have problems? Mine makes this cracking sound in time with the beat of music, and it's starting to get very annoying. Just noticed the same thing beginning ot happen to my friend's Z as well. I wish my car was still under warranty

Value in consumer reports like this is mostly for comparison with other cars in it's class.

I hadn't read much here about brakes causing problems. I wonder what they are referring to.

Maybe they were talking about the POS parking brake. Mine and a few others had our e-brakes completly fail/break and had to be repaired under warranty. Plus even when they do work, they don't hold the car for ****

^True, mine doesn't hold much, and sometimes when I get into the car in the morning and disengage the parking brake, it seems "stuck" and I hear a loud thud as I pull away, from the e-brake disengaging.

My '06 and most others which also don't have problems must be a freaks of nature.
Thanks to the guys that are complaining or had bad luck. You all really make me feel not just blessed with the car, but lucky too. Woo Hoo!

once again Consumer Reports is spot on. My 2003 had tranny go out, suspension (alignment) problems, and the audio system very much sucks. To Nissan's credit they took care of everything (well except the BOSE system just flat out can't be fixed). Try to get GM to upgrade your transmission to a version that is 3 years newer, nah, they'll just tell you its normal, and work on it until the warrnaty goes out, my car wasn't even in warranty and Nissan put in a new 2006 transmission.

I find it amazing how dead on CR is on every car I've owned. Anyone that calls out CR has to have blinders on for the car they own. It is what it is.

This argument reminds me of adam Sandler "Shampoo is better........no conditioner is better."

"Better" is subjective

My 03 has no real issues, except Bose blows. but I'm an auto to avoid the transmission problems.

Maybe when you have some statistical data or logic people will take you seriously. The 07 is too new to have any idea how reliable it is after a few years.

I just want to know how you got enough money for a new Z when you sound like you're still in high school.

I dunno I had a SpecV and all Nissans imo are POS. I think the Z is a great car, but after owning a nissan I know to buy USED! I just got the 04 350Z and the only issues I see:
1) clutch is tight and hard to press down
2) suspension is nothing great, but its not an Audi or a MB. Its a sports car
3) Tire Feathering? I dunno I do some extra wear on the outside of the front tires
4) some squeeks and rattles, again nothing that doesnt shock me for being a nissan.

So in the end I know what I bought and I know how much I wanted to spend. New or Old doesnt matter Nissans build quality has never ever been great. Same clips in a 03 and in an 07 or an 08.

Thanks for the comment about statistics. By the way the data is weighted for model year and mileage so that older vehicles are not penalised simply because they have more miles.
