Where did you hear that dealers can easily fix the clutch problem? I would like to know.

For the record, my 07 doesn't have any clutch issues.

the 300hp and 07's 306hp rev-up are different i think.

Too lazy to look for a graph but the HR's power is suppose to be much more linear than the past engines besides the power increase. I would only say 06+ because I've seen some interiors of other members and was in shock at how bad they looked. Possibly just not taken care of, but 06+ got a redesign anyway.

OK I'll post it. I have an 06 and it doesn't eat, burn, smoke, or spray oil. So far I love it. Only got about 4k miles on it so far though.

+1 another 06 revup with no oil problems... also put down 252 at the wheels on a dyno dynamics with just intake mods.

yea i wouldnt exactly say reliablity as well because every Z model has a issue, the 07s have clutch issues the 06s share a set of defective motors out there now resloved by the ACMZ handbuilt engine , the previous Zs have interior quality issues every Z before the 06 did not have the xtra cabin dampening which on the re40s made a loud tire noise also contributed to the tire feather issues. lol Also window motor issues.

Pick your choice , so far im sure issues will arise with the new HR models its just they havent been out long enough to be so judgmental.

Personally im enjoying my revup now since the new motor i have the increased rev limit over my 04 and plan on bolting on eveyr NA mod get some nice 285s and 255s pole positions for my tires on the GT rays rims and increase my rev limit to that of HR motors with tuning osirus etc and get some more power adudjusting VTC on these motors. As far as im concerned this engine can get to 300rwhp moreso then the 287 because it makes more power when freeing up components and thats my goal tuned.

If i had a choice now to choose a Z beyond my purchase a year ago from my 04 Z i would choose the Nismo Z....because in essense she only needs a minor tire change and FI or nitrous to make it fun in mine opinion and the suspension is already tuned and aero...cuts cost in half with the r&d with the nismo package.

07-08 VQ35HR "High-Response" -7500RPM Redline, Fastest of the bunch, no known issues yet, 306HP under new SAE Standards. 13.3-13.5's in the 1/4 have been acquired.

05-06 VQ35DE "Rev-Up" - 7100RPM Redline, Roll of the dice, seems as if 10% of these motors have Oil consumption issues. 300HP under old SAE standards (lower HP under new SAE Standards)

03-04 VQ35DE "Original Gangsta VQ" - 6800RPM Redline, 287HP under old SAE standards, very rare cases of oil consumption, has the most torque down low, some argue this motor is more powerful than new Rev-Ups.

Personally, If I were to recommend you a car, it would be the 07 Z. Why?

1. Fastest
2. I happen to like the hood bulge, adds JDM muscle
3. Best Interior, lowest amount of road noise
4. Standard rims are best looking
5. Would have obviously better resale value than others
6. LED Taillights and Bi-Xenon projectors

Most 05's had the 287HP motors, just like the 03-04. (Only the "anniversary" and "track" 05's had the "rev-up" motor.)

07 Enthusiast here with no Tranny issues...

then again, I only have 1000 miles on it.

You will always have some sort of road noise when you are rockin out 18"+ wheels with low profile tires.

You didnt get an 07 touring though for that price.

Maybe a base.

But still thats a LITTLE much for the mileage. I would have expected 25ish for an 07 touring with 15k miles. AT most.

07 touring new go for 31ish.

And you have to expect when driven off the lot decreases about 2-3k off the price, and then factor in mileage.

I think you guys have convinced me that '07 is the way to go even if it costs a little more. I'm hoping they will come down a little bit by spring time with the 08's out in full force, or else I'll just have to be patient. There is a nice black 07 with 1200 miles near me for 24,9xx right now, but I'm not quite ready yet.

Trim level, I don't think, will be that important to me. We'll see.

just some FYI the 06.5 Zs and the 07s share all interior and rims choices and dampening minus advances in clutch engagement and engine various trans covers everything else to the shocks are of the same build as the 06.5 versions not the first 06 models . manuals also define the 06.5 to the reg 06 models as every year Z. take for instance i had a 04.5 Z as said on my old manual my old 04 Z.

But needless to say the engine is the main reason for purchase nothing else .

If you are not particular about model or color, the 2007 may be for you. Keep in mind that there are few if any left on the lot.
