Whenever I hear an american or a UK review on the Z on youtube or whatever, Nissan is always "Niss-ON" I guess it depends on the accent. Not too sure how you could stuff up Nismo :S

Oki.. Its not Niz mo, or nis mo.. it is Nees Moh.

I will explain two reasons why that is the proper way to pronounce it.

How do you pronounce Nissan? Nee sahn
and Motor? Moe tuhr

It is well known that Nismo is the combination of those two words. Still not convinced? Oki, let me take you to Nihongo 101.

Nissan is a Japanese company and a Japanese word. Ergo, Nismo (or at least the Nis part) should be pronounced according to the rules of Japanese pronunciation. The letter I is pronounced like a long E in Japan.

e.g. Arigato - Ar ee gah toe

Therefore, Neess moe. I imagine in Japan, if you heard someone say it, the S could have a slight zz to it, or not, but the I is pronounced with a long E.

Any questions?

-Brian (lived in Japan and was once quite versed in the Japanese language.)

No there isnt, but for clarification. I wouldnt be surprised to hear some one say it like..

NeesseeMoe or Neesuhmoe

They would almost sound silent. Still, thats speaking for someone over there, and typical of how fast and aggressive they talk. Over here, most proper would be:

Neess Moe

I got to thinking about it and I don't specificly ever recall saying Nismo outloud to anybody before because I ordered my exhuast and floor mats online and people at work could care less about me rambling on about my exhuast.

Anyway I would say it Nizmo, which is not right but I don't care.

Like others said I think it all depends on how you pronounce the word Nissan

Knee sohn

or

niss on

I pronounce it knee sohn, which would be kneesmo.

$%# that ^%$ it sounds spanish, so I will stick with NIZMO!
