Default Down to 2 options.

Hey guys. I'm kinda in a hole here. I'm trying to figure out what to do with around $2000 with my car. So I came down to 2 options:

1. Headers + Test pipe (helix) + HKS Hi-Power Dual exhaust.

or

2. Tein Flex Coilovers.

Please let me know what you guys suggest. Thanks!

IMHO if you are building a car you should always start with the suspension. It lays the foundation for all other mods to follow. Go with the suspension. BTW if you want to save money Tanabe offers a reasonably priced entry level suspension. Their PRO-SOC II is a very good set-up for about $1K. That would still leave $$ for test pipes($300), a spacer ($300). Might want to consider it. Just my 2c

Tanabe good? My roommate said that he would rather go for Teins. I'm planning to go with around +20 offset when I get rims so I need to adjust camber. The Flex allows me to do that. Doesn't spacers damage the bearings?

IMO, fixing up a Z is a waste of money. I regret wasting money on my Z.
Stock Z is just fine.

Haha. That's +2 for suspension and +0 for exhaust. Thanks!

lol really? I personally think the Z is a beautiful car. Though my roommate also told me I should have gotten an Evo. But I don't regret my Z since when I first got it, it turned heads everywhere I go. Haha.

Suspension alllll da way!

i heard lot of good things about tein.

but if you are going to get coilovers, there is alot to choose,

there is lot of tread,
Search and study, get best price and get what you want.

I'm going to have to agree with this. I spent WAY WAY too much on my Z then sold it and LOST my ***. Now I drive my Datsun 510 around and just love it.

Keep your money man.

he asked you to choose between the two options....you didn't....we are all sorry that you feel you wasted your money on your Z..start your own thread an ***** about it...don't waste our time with opinions that do not pertain to this thread...be gone. Oh yeah I vote suspension ..If you ever buy both go with a set of used HFC's with that exhaust and stay away from those test pipes.

unless you really want the exhaust sound, suspension is the way to go, because you aren't gonna see much performance gains from the exhaust if it's pre-VQHR

You guys are convincing me to save my money. Lol. I'm a poor college student and I recently sold my Suzuki SV650. Thats where I got the extra 2g of money. What I plan to do is maybe just lower my car, add rims, and then exhaust. And that should be it for my car. I don't plan on anything crazy. I was just thinking if I have a nice car like the 350Z, I should at least add some things to it. But thanks for letting me know. I will definately keep in mind.

On the other hand, looks like if I'm about to do anything, suspension is my best bet. Thank you very much guys! I really appreciate all your opinion.

two grand is a lot of money for a poor college student. save it... increased attention (positive and negative) isn't always a good thing if you don't have the money to back it up..

example, somebody likes your brand new wheels that you saved up every penny for, and steals them

Suspension #1. Too many variables with the breathing mods. Plenty of good coilovers for $1200 or less.

+1..unless you go turbo lol

I would vote for suspension as well. I regret not starting out with coilovers, but that should be remedied soon
If you wanna save some money you should look into Stance coilovers. It only costs under $1200 and is a good bang for the money.
I was gonna go for Zeal Function Xs but decided to save some money and go with Stance instead.

I would go with suspension first.

Headers, test pipes can crack and blah blah plus TP's are illigal in CA, like most of our citizens Plus TP's smell bad, smoke, rasp, blah blah blah. Hmm like most of our citizens

Far as I know coilovers are legal in CA.
