For all of you in cold climates...
Sorry, but I'm calling out anyone who claims a Z can go through 6 inches of snow on stock tires. Not in traffic, and not more than 10 miles an hour. If you call that driving in the snow, well so be it. I need to see actual video.
And for those who won't drive their Z in the rain, or at night, Jeesh, its not a Ferrari for gods sake. My wifes minivan cost as much as my Z!

but I don't get it...its a sports car to be driven in nice dry weather (or even on a road with some traction)
unless it's your daily driver and its your only vehicle..

OK, I will get with you in 1 sec.
NO CAR, none is absolutly safe in the snow, its just not made. 4WD, AWD, FWD none are safe. Some of these options alowl for you to move about in snow better then others but that does not mean that you will loose control. I love people who have an SUV and use 4WD and think there untouchable. Just add some water to pavement and any car is in trouble.
Knowing that drive SLOW! I love morons this past week with the snow driving at 70mph+ and thinking that everything is fine. ITs NOT!
4WD and AWD was not created for snow, it was created for either ralley racing or off roading not for snow. It was adapted for snow use.
In anycase I have a base 350Z and drive it in the snow, but very careful. RWD is probably the worst in wet weather compared to the other options. When I drive in snow conditions I drive slow, really slow! I brake before and turn and I lay off on a turn. DO not use cruse control in wet weather (goes for any car) and make sure you keep an even amount of power on the gas when going through the turn, but do not brake. I know tons of people that drive RWD cars and trucks in the snow and you just need to be more careful!

No reason if you watch what your doing you can't drive it in snow. I drove my Corvette in snow many times because it was the only vehicle I had at the time and did fine. I was more worried about the idiots around me. Only problem I had in winter with that car was when I hit a deer
flipped off me high beams for a car coming at me and right when it passed a deer jumped out and POW.

My baby is strictly garage kept during bad weather. I don't really feel like getting snows since there has been a steady trend of less and less snow each years and I have a second car. If I didn't, I would definitely get snow tires as I have learned that they are necessary from my 240sx days in Rochester, NY.
This morning I pulled my Z out of the garage, into the driveway, got to the end (taking it slow so I don't slide into the open road) and looked both ways. When I went to pull out of the driveway, the car didn't move. I managed to situate the car on a patch of solid ice, in which it did not move from in the very least. I had the car in drive, and the wheels were spinning slowly on the patch of ice as I watched them with my head out the door. It wasn't long before I found myself behind the wheel of my mother's 2000 Ford Expedition, making my way to school a half hour late. Wondrous.

+1 to no more then 10mph. But it WILL make it. If you have no other choice. As long as you be patient, should be no problems!! Frustrating yes.

Well I think that becomes a problem for some of us that have to drive to work and the Z is our only car. Just stay on the main roads / highways.. Don't drive like you normally do and leave ur hazards on at all times. And AVOID hills. Take longer routes if it means you can stay as on as level road as you can.. I know I hit one hill going to work. Which means I'll be parking down the block since the hill is huge.. At worst I'm sure you people know other people that live by you that would be nice to get you....

I totally agree. But $h!t happens sometimes where you have no choice. I'm just amazed at the numbers of people that don't know how to take their time when they are caught in a rough condition. And they make these outrageous claims of how they were only doing 15mph going straight and they suddenly spun out and flipped into a ditch and they had cruise control on!!!! When in reality they decided to push the limits, or f' around on main roads to be "cool" and end up wrecking. Then blame it on the car, not their driving.
