Default '04 Coupe Just Ordered, Have Questions

So after a month of trying to find an '03 Z exactly the way I wanted and not finding it anywhere in the SouthEast Region. I had to order the car yesterday from my dealer. Thing is they closed the "03 orders as of June. Therefore the order was for the "04 Couple.

My dealer told me it would be around the same price, and that it still would only be 60-90 days from order before it arrives. Can anyone verify this?

Also, what is new on the '04? I know they're changing the color scheme but since they still had Silverstone I didn't inquire anymore, but any other changes? Please inform if you know since I can't find info on it anywhere.

Oh yeah, I ordered a Touring Silverstone Automatic, with Trunk Mats, Floor Mats, and SplashGuards.

The only changes known thus far is the addition of Liquid Silver and the deletion of Brickyard.

Interesting, wonder what Liquid Silver will look like when they already have 2 silver colors???

I just received a reply on another board and somone said they're adding a digital compass onto the Homelink Mirror.

Anything else known?

Anyone know if 60-90 days from now is a realistic arrival date?

I believe the 03 Maxima has the liquid silver--you can stop by a dealership and check it out!

xw34x, When did you order your '04? My order went in on Friday.

How long did your dealer say the wait would be?

I just looked at the liquid silver of the Maxima online. Looks just like Brilliant Silver to me. Are they getting rid of Brilliant Silver as well? Seems to me that they'd have to....3 silvers with 2 of them a like is too much.

Anyway, any other differences between the '03's and '04's that anyone knows about?

Actually no, it is Liquid Silver. You can check Nissan's site--and I meant to say 04 rather than 03 in my earlier post.

My guess would be the CS will be replaced by the LS because they are too close in color.

Also, depending on the quality of your monitor, you may not be getting a true representation of the color.

Ya i have been inquiring about changes for the 04 as well and it seems the dealers know as little as us or just want to claim that nissan has not made any changes so as to get rid of the 03's in the lot while they can still get msrp for them.

I agree with KamikaZ, but it's not just the dealers....Nissan is helping them out. The dealer I work with didn't even know he couldn't order '03's anymore until he actually went in and tried this month.

So Nissan has opened up orders on the "04's but hasn't mentioned anything about them.

I would think they would, or at least should have addressed certain issues....such as the Bose system, hopefully a front lighter added, the toe in problem, possibly better paint quality/protection, etc, etc.

Of course none of that is confirmed since no one will speak about it. Therefore I have this '04 on order which is supposed to come to me in Aug. and I have no information on it. Personally it's really annoying me that I've placed an order and can't get details on the car I've put money down on!

VMan,

That is pretty wierd. I trust this dealer I've been working with a lot since he's friend of the family. And he called me up before placing the order on Friday and told me the computer was not allowing him to place '03's anymore this month. So the only thing he could do was place me an '04 order.

Also, if you went to your dealer this weekend, you probably missed out on the ordering window. Dealerships can only place orders on the first week of each month which I got screwed on last month cause I was a day late!

So you may just want to watch out with what your dealer is trying to do.

While price shopping for a dealer to place my 2004 Z order with, one dealer told me that they just got word that they have a short window to place and order for the First shipments of 2004. The window was from June 5th - 9th. And that after the 9th, it would be closed again for another few weeks or month (can't remember excatly, would have to look at the email)
At the time I was like "Ya right" just trying to put the pressure on me. Then I read Sprint302's Post where he posts the same dates (I belive he meant to put 2004 in his post. So I guess they were telling me the truth.

So now I am going to try to work some dealers tomorrow, to see we can agree on price, and I can get my order in!

Seems wierd to me that it would just be a window though. Because all orders have the 60-90 day wait. And dealership can only order each month with in that first week window. Therefore it wouldn't make sense for them to be able to start ordering '03's next month again and not '04's.

Basically I think '04 ordering is open for good. But if you want in on this month you have to do it before the 9th like you said. And its like that every month.

Anyway, I hope they come in more towards August than Sept.!!!

So does this mean i should negotiate a $1,500-$2,000 off MSRP since they are not taking 2003 orders, does this mean they have to get the 2003's off the lot? I am pretty confused, i plan on getting a 2004 but if i can get a hell of a deal on 2003, then i rather buy now. What are the odds of negotiating for 2004? Do you guys think the dealer will even budge on the price??? Damn i am confused.
