Default Mobil Speed Pass and the Z Keys

When I picked up my Z they told me that the Mobil Speed Pass interferes with the electronic keys and that it will erase the keys if anyone even gets into your car with a speedpass.

Does anyone know if this is true and is it really that sensitive ? I use my speedpass all the time and now I have to worry about passengers having one in their pockets ?

Not sure if it erases anything, but it can definatley interfere with it. My mother-in-law had issues with her 01' Maxima not starting and it turned out to be her speedpass. She just took it off her keychain and everything was fine.

I've used mine for 3 months with no problem;... yet :-). First I've heard of it.

I keep my Speedpass on the key ring right next to the key for the Z. No problems. Does the guy who told you that have stock in Shell or something???

The Speedpass can't "erase" the key! It might interfere if it's held against the Z's key while you try to start the car. That's it! Same thing when you're trying to use the pump. Keep the key away from the Speedpass. You're just avoiding having the car or pump read the wrong code and failing to "authenticate" you.
