Default Automate question

Did everyone receive Automate treatment with the purchase of thier car? If so, if I didn't receive mine am I entitled to it? Or do I need to pay for it myself?

It's this treatment they put on your car's exterior to protect it from UV rays and such. It's suppose to be like waxing it but much better. (If someone else has a clearer explantion please feel free to elaborate). The reason I ask is because when I purchased my previous car (2000 Honda Prelude) the dealer did it for free without even asking me.

The automate is a sealer wax that is sprayed onto the car using a paint like sprayer and compressed air. This sealer wax is then buffed off by a large automated machine....almost like a car wash except with buffing pads. All parts that stick up off of the car must be removed or taped down securely so the buffers do not get caught on them. The machine is hydraulic and will tear a winshield wiper arm clean off no problem. The worst part is that if it does tear a part off it will be stuck in the pad and repeatedly beaten down the side or roof of the car untill someone shuts the machine off. (not fun). Anyway the sealer wax is ok....it makes your car feel great and most dealerships use this since it hides swirl marks like you wouldnt believe. The only downside is that it does not last very long....maybe one or two washes....and if the dealership has not cleaned their buffing pads in a while it could do more damage than good. You will not know if the buffer just swirled the hell out of your paint untill you wash you car a few times and get all the sealer wax off. I would stay away from this system if possible....I detailed cars at a large dealership and used this machine for 2 years.....I would not use it on my car though. I guess it would depend on the dealership and if they clean or replace the pads often though.....the dealership I worked at did not...it was very expensive. Talking with the automate technician, he said that all the dealerships he services rarely replace or clean pads due too the cost.
Hope this helps, Mark.

Thanks Mark.

I didn't know that the system could actually do more harm than good and that it was only good for a couple of washes. I'm feeling better about not having it done to my car.
