2006 ftw, less problems found in that year then previous as mentioned. If you're dropping that much cash right out of the box, why not put that amount down on a new Z? Your monthly payments will obviously not hurt your pocket size. I'd rather see a car im purchasing before actually buying it, first hand. I'd rather pay slim amounts of money a month, then to pay more money when your warranty is over. It already has 23k miles of unknown driving habbits, come see me at your local nissan. j/k goodluck z baby! haha

2006, obviously. Have you checked the Portland CL ads? ~21k is pretty average for most years >07.

21K isn't the hard part.. But it's hard for an 06 touring 6MT.
Can't afford an 07, and really want Touring.

If you find anything else closer, let me know? I looked through cars.com, eBay, Autotrader, and craigslist. Emailed a few DOZEN across the country. This is the best deal I found.

Here's an 03 touring for just under $22k ASKING price:
http://portland.craigslist.org/mlt/car/546926023.html

Here's another 03 touring for just under $23k:
http://portland.craigslist.org/mlt/car/546470719.html

And here's an 05 touring roadster for just under $23k (it's an automatic though):
http://portland.craigslist.org/mlt/car/546470719.html

And that was just with >2 minutes of searching. You know you can knock off a couple thousand from each one of those. Try a bit harder next time.

I emailed all of those except the roadster.
Surprisingly, none of them budged more than $500-1000.
They all have more miles. They are all pre-06.

$21K for an 06 Touring 6MT coupe with 24K is still the best deal IMO...

honestly i dont know what the weather is like in georgia, but one of my buddies got a 06 g35 for 21k and he thought it was a steal, however the underside of the car was completely rusted from the snow/salt. i would go for the 03 because its from california where the weather is pretty good.

realistically i think you should wait and find one closer to you so you can see the quality of the car in person before you drop 20k.

If it checks out, it is a good deal.

Personally, I'd find out where the nearest dealer is and then call myself because it is clear who the customer is (you). $100-$200 for inspection.

Snow in Georgia?? The weather is great, no rusting, no salting, just hot as hell in the summer..

If I pursue the 06 (which I am), I will have Forged Performance do a full check for me. They are a local Z specialty shop as I understand, so I trust their judgment. I've been in contact with them, and a member on the boards recommended them. Any rust and NO NO.

I'm going to search but perhaps someone can help with some brief Qs regarding 06 oil consumption:

Did it hit all cars? Random cars? Any pattern?
If a car makes it past, say, 20K without any problems, are the odds reduced? Or can it start anytime?
If it starts at all while under warranty, is Nissan pretty good about fixing it?
Once fixed by the dealership, can it happen AGAIN? Or have they found the cause and can update those effected?
Will any work/issues be on the title, Nissan NA data, or anywhere else I can see?

Option 3: Hahaha!
2006 Silver/Black 6MT Touring with 9K for $20,500!
Still needs to be shipped, but it's from a Souther dealership as well.
Requesting a Carfax copy, and the other stuff, and will find a local shop to inspect.
But compared to the other 06, it's $500 less, with 14K fewer miles, and black interior.
* This one has the OEM trunk spoiler, but no side strakes. Never seen that combo before.

make sure you buy it under the condition that you can get it checked out by a mechanic to check that it is what it says it is.

I'd never buy a car without seeing it in person and driving it first, but thats me, its just too much money to be flinging it around whilly nilly
