Default Opinions on 2 used Zs please

Hey guys, I hope to join the Z ranks pretty soon.
Comparing the purchases of 2 particular cars.

I am from WA state, and the market here seems pretty inflated so I am going out of state. Car 1 is in CA, which means buying a plane ticket and gas to drive home. Car 2 is in GA, which means having it shipped. I think those expenses are pretty equal.

Car 1:
2003 Touring Coupe, 6MT. Bose, heated leather, etc. NAV. Nismo wing, lower side strakes, AEM intake. Daytona/Black, 34K miles, good conditon. He wants $20K firm, but I'm sure I can show the green and get it for $19K cash.

Car 2:
2006 Touring Coupe, 6MT. Silver with Gray leather, and of course Bose, heated leather, etc. NO NAV. Side strakes yes, but no rear spoiler. 23K miles. They say firm at $21,500, but I think I can do $21,000 cash.

So there it is. $2,000 difference for the 2006 vs 2003. The 2003 has NAV, but the 2006 has 10K less miles. I'm impartial to the Nismo wing and the color combos. Both cars have clean titles with 1 owner.

I see the Bose system is different on the 2 - 2006 has no tape player. Aside from that, is there any other difference in the audio quality? Speakers or amp/sub upgrades in 06? I know the other differences (engine, lights, interior trim, etc.).

Both seem look good deals on their own...

Any input or feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!!!

what about the oil consumption issues with the 06's? I would get the 06, u still have the warranty, but they aren't problem free either. You may want to ask for records from nissan to see what warranty claims have been filed on the car.

'06 without a doubt! Check out the TSB on the oil consumption, then take it to the dealer.....they can resolve it.

Wow, so unanimous. Thanks a lot, guys.

I'll probably go with the 06 - - I also plan on upgrading a bit, so the 06 wheels might fetch a little more than the 03 as well.

If for some reason I do go with the 03 (I wish the 06 had nav!) is it upgradeable to current maps easily?

Thanks again!

2006 without a doubt. BUt, have the car checked out by a mechanic you pay and trust.....particularly since it is coming from a long way away.

If the 06 is coming from Georgia: (1) Call the service manager at local (in Georgia) Nissan dealer, explain your situation, & tell him you want his best mechanic to go over the car and (2) tell seller you ain't writting a check until you get results of inspection. If it was me, I'd also see if I could get Nissan dealer to arrange shipping...or at least their recommendation for a shipper.

The offer is in on the 06. Thanks guys!

With his reply, I will mention that I want a local tech to give it a look-over.

I had my S2K and C43 shipped from the East Coast as well, so I know a shipper.

What I normally do is pay the dealer a deposit, then give the balance to the trucker (in a certified check - that I trust) and have him check out the car. If he approves, he swaps the title for the check and loads it up.

I'll tell the salesman to take it to Nissan and pay for a run through. How much should that cost? I'll post up in the GA section as well.
