I'll be getting my Z soon and I'm pretty young myself. I'm only 19 and I guess you could say I'm a little lucky cause I'm kinda spliting rent with my mom and getting put on her insurance to help save money on that. So yea I'm getting a little help to get mine, but it's my dream car.

But Davidv once i drive the car off the lot my parents say its mine, it will not be part his, and part mine. I am not sure about the technical aspect of things about if my dad can make something a little bit cheaper for the insurance I will have to be paying, it might be under his name, but whichever it is, ill know i worked for it and its mine
and to that video, it says the guy was used to a mx-5, then drove a 350z, next time I go around a sharp S looking road i'm not gonna gun it like im drving a mx-5.

And to Firebase why is it that younger kids can't get good at handling horsepower, my brother owns a 400 some horsepower 2002 Audi S4 with K04 turbos and all, he got that when he was 17 also. He never had any problems with that he just took it slow and took his need for speed to the track. And I would do the same. Its just a hobby that I intend to be safe with. Why would I be reckless with something I worked so hard for?

Well for starters congrats on saving the money up for such a large purchase. I recommend just thinking of others around you when driving. I feel puting others safety before your own is a great place to start when deciding on your driving behavior. As for shopping for a used car, I recommend paitence.
When I first started looking (23 at the time) dealers were willing to do just about anything to get me inside their car. Be very weary of this. If you can get all your financing in order before purchasing, I feel it stream line the process. You mentioned your parents are helping you, so ask as many questions while out shopping as you can. Its a learning experience when making any type of purchase. Its very important that you all get what you all are looking for. I recommend making a list of things that you want your 350z to have. This will eliminate wasting time on cars that may have great prices but are not what your looking for. Test drive car frequently. Dont be afraid to test drive new models on dealers ( if they let you, im not sure on this). This way I learned what to expect from an older model compared to a used model. Since you have been on the boards a while I assume you have read about some of the TSBs and things to look out for..etc. With that being said, happy shopping and goodluck .

As I mentioned in my original reply I would be very happy to answer any questions or concerns posted by the person who owns the car. That is the person who's name is on the title.

i dont get what all the hate towards you on this thread is all about
it sounds like you will love having a 350z and are intelligent enough to take good care of it, be responsible having fun with it, and not act like a jacka$$ driving it. plus your own parents think you have shown enough responsibility saving up and working hard and are helping you pay for the car which im sure you would be purchasing on your own later on had your parents not helped you out. I was in the same situation last summer after i graduated (im 19 now). good luck finding a good deal. enjoy your 350z, and be safe.

Ignor, Davidv; I'm 65, so at 58 he is still a "pup" who needs to learn himself!
Advice:
-Don't even think about street racing...no matter what.
-No booze of any kind before driving
-Learn to go fast in increments on country roads with no driveways or cross streets that you can't see at least 1/2 mile in advance. When your comfortable at one speed move it up another 5 or 10 mile increment. On these trips, your running solo so you can focus and, if you screw the pooch, your the only one maimed or killed.
-No showing how good/fast/etc you are to a girlfriend before you know how to drive the Z cold....with a 6 month starting minimum
-For learning about rear wheel drive adhesion limits find a large parking lot.
You seem to have your head screwed on straight; keep it up.

Your brother has a 2002 audi s4 with a k04 turbo at the age of 17?!?! You sure your parents aren't well off and buying you this car? for 2 sons that both have nice cars and at such a young age is well.... kinda hard to believe. How long have you been saving that 10grand? that's a pretty good amount of cash for that age. but hey I'm not saying this or that, i just tend to break things down as it is. "IF" u did save that 10grand, then hell good job! Take it easy with the Z, and don't anything stupid, unless if you are on the track where u can rip that SonUvaBi**tch like theys no tomorrow. This reply may sound like I'm giving u sh*t but I'm not, only if everything on what u say is true. for you to save 10grand is an impressive dedication at that age and i don't expect for a teen to buy a 27k + car on his own (which is very hard to do with no credit and at that age to finance, unless if you had YOUR own money up front cash, Drug dealer < j/p =P ). At least u worked for almost half of that car. btw don't get base, no LSD sucks. GL kid.
