My first "REAL" drive....!
Well I got to really drive my baby for the first time this weekend. Since picking her up in March the weather's been so bad and I've been protecting her so much that I only put 850 miles on the clock - short runs back and forth to work and so on. This weekend I drove from Rochester, NY to Montreal Canada for the F1 GP (which was fantastic BTW and I have lots of great pics if anyone’s interested).
The drive up on Friday was wet and wild. It rained hard all day so I had to keep speeds down (relatively) but despite the conditions she handled beautifully, felt very firm and confident and after 6 hours straight I still felt good too. Great seats and driving position and I’m 6’4”. The drive back was fantastic. The weather was glorious - sunny and warm. I set off at 3:30 p.m. and drove into the sunset. Man - this car eats up big roads like these. I had been concerned about ‘the bounce’ that a number of us have reported and had I noticed it somewhat on a few local, concrete, bad condition roads but there was no evidence of bounce at all on any of the 350 miles between Montreal and Rochester. The return journey was a little over 5 hours with a stop for food and gas. I was able to hit 130 mph comfortably and overtaking was so effortless. Pick up in any gear is remarkable and throttle response excellent. The cars ability to break from high speed was also tested thanks to some of the idiots out there and she passed that test with ease. The car is more comfortable than I had expected and again I felt good after the trip. Averaged 22.2 mpg over 700 miles. Didn't see another single 350Z on the whole trip but did see some gorgeous motors - F1 brings out a lot of the champagne set. Got a lot of admiring looks and the usual questions. Had a few good short runs with the usual "would be's" along the way and held my own very well (I'm not a street racer).
All I have to do know is spend a couple of hours cleaning and detailing. I can hardly look at her today. The hard rain on Friday left her so dirty and then the hot and sunny drive back added a bug farm to the front end! Oh well - all in a good cause.

I must agree. I have been a huge McLaren fan since I was a kid and big supporter of fellow Celt - David Coulthard for years. But of course am a great supporter of his team mate. Kimi is a fantastic talent and will be world champion one day I believe. He is already taking over the mantle of No. 1 driver for McLaren.
