your Z has a glove box? must be defective...

mine has a package tray behind the passenger seat that holds the manual. but im sure you knew that already since you are so well versed in what the manual says.

Just a bit of a warning, if you unlock the doors and do not start the car, they will lock automatically in something like 10 minutes. Never unlock the car and put your keys in it and then close the door.

what??? what years your Z. ..my 03 doesn't do that. .i unlock the doors all the time and throw the keys in when its in the bay at my shop. .windows up n all. .nothing ever happens as far as locking. .this is news to me!!!

i don't think that will happen due to the fact you cannot lock the door if it's open and i believe it may be a safety feature that the car wont lock auto incase idiots leave their keys in it. .
I COULD BE WRONG!!!

I could be wrong but, I am certain the doors will lock themselves after a certain period of time. Maybe they only do it if the door is never opened. I looked through the manual and couldn't find it. Mine is an 03 too.

im not tryen to a D _ _K but. .how would you lock and unlock the car and leave the keys inside with out opening up the door to allow the door to lock with the keys being inside. . ??? in otherwords either way your gonna have to open a door to put the keys inside in which i do not think the car will lock itself. .may lock itself if you use the remote to unlock the car and then walk away. .that being a saftey feature and the car knowing that ok the owner still has his keys but has left me unlocked for a while let me just lock myself because no doors have been open. .ya KNow??

^^that was so confusing to read.

on my old car, the lojack kicked in and turned on the alarm about a minute after the doors were closed, if i didn't lock/engage the alarm. it didn't lock the doors though.
it doesn't engage the alarm on the z

yeah i figured it was confusing. .what I mean is that. .HOW is it possible to LOCK n UNLOCK the car. .with out opening the DOORS, and be able to LEAVE the KEYS inside. .for the car to AUTO lock ITSELF. .WITH the keys already inside. .when you've never opened the door to begin with to put the keys inside???

Haha, I didn't even know about this for a while until my friend asked me if the Z did it, since his old maxima used to do it too, apparently.
