Slight correction .... If you lock unlock the doors and DO NOT OPEN the doors within a minute or so, the doors will automatically lock back up.

It's basically fool proof, no harm no foul. As soon as you open the doors this feature goes away.

Here's another tip for you young padewans

If you turn your engine off and remove your keys and you forgot your windows are still down, you don't have to put the keys back in the ignition to get your windows to go up.

Your Z allows you about a 40 second timeframe to still operate your windows without having to put your key back into the ignition.

Here's the caveat, as soon as your driver or passenger door opens this feature goes away and you'll have to insert the key in the ignition to raise the windows (or you can just put the key in the drivers door and raise them that way as well, by turning and holding to the left or right .... forgot which way)

 

Even though the flaming you have given the guy for offering up tips is harsh, you guys should count yourself lucky... In the UK we have a key with 2 buttons, unlock and lock....

You have to get in the car to open the boot (Translation = Trunk) you cant open the windows from the key, you cant set your wing mirrors to fold on locking (perhaps only on RHD JDM's) You open the car, it stays open and dosnt lock after 10 secs. You have to double press the open button to open the passanger door lock. You cant set the doors to lock after 10 secs (anti hijacking)

And I think the reason for all this is that we have a better alarm.....

Oh and we currently have to pay $55,000 for a stock Zed...!!

Still a great car and I wouldnt swap it for one that does all of this!!

I discovered the hatch release under the rear strut bar by mistake within my second week of owning it

 

i'm pretty sure this applies to US z's as well.

 

i didnt know this actually lol. awesome now when it wakes up in 2.5 months i can do that lol.

 

I thought it was...double-click passenger door unlocks, but if you don't open the passenger door in a certain time frame, it will lock up again. (just the passenger door)

Sort of an anti-car jack feature.

Kinda finicky, but gets me in trouble with the girl. She thinks I'm being a d1ck and locking her out.

 

Actually it's the opposite. If your two consecutive unlock clicks aren't within 8 seconds of each other (aprox) the passenger door will never unlock.

Both doors will re-lock automatically after about a minute if the doors were never opened.

 

in all honesty. .i believe because the Z is a sports car. .they don't have the auto locking luxury feature your all talking about. .Well at least in 03 i dont think they did cause my 03 performance ain't got that. .but perhaps 04-08 they might. .but truthfully my car doesn't do anything you guys are talking about. .as far a auto locking. . .

 

This is straight from a 2003 350Z manual. Yee have little faith ... Your 03 performance DOES have this feature.

 

ok ok i just tested it. .works! thanx. .you know what my problem was. .if i unlock my car i always least open one of the doors or hatch. .so i never let the car do it's thing. .so i've never experienced nor have ever read the manual!. .hah. .who needs directions anyway!!!
