Default Anyone paint a diecast Z model?

I like collecting 1/18 scale cars and I dont think a black Z model is coming out anytime soon....I was thinking about buying one and just painting it black....masking out the lights and all that and spraying a nice coat of black with a clear coat over it...anyone do this?

I do it all the time! If you do it right it is immaculate I just reccomend taking the car apart as much as you can. Apply very very light coats because it's screwed when the paint cloggs up on the seems of the car.

Best paint to use is:

Testors Model MAsters.

I tried. Paint came out perfect, but I had problems with the paint gunking up around the edge of the windows. I should have figured out how to remove the windows rather than taping it off. Here is my black Hot Wheels.

Wow! That paint job looks really good! I wouldn't have the patience, which is exactly why my Daytona Blue Hot Wheels die cast will be here in a couple of days.

Actually I didn't. I used gloss black though. I did take my time and put on 10-20 very thin coats. It feels very smooth.
