I should note: NISSAN has a program on the Pathfinder to inspect certain units because the mount for a deck lift might be defective and break. Thus, allowing the hatch to bean the operator on the head.

Mine was not effected.

I haven't heard about any defective lifts. That would be a vendor of the lift issue perhaps ....

I saw a really neat safety latch the other day that comes stock on Land Rovers. I think I might retrofit all my cars with that. All my cars use this technology and some of my trucks do too.

Yes, if your Dealer installed it and used the supplied struts / shocks / lifts that came or were recommend to be use it most likely does. That is the HD lifts I'm talking about. They are made by KYB and have NISSAN Logo on them. Couldn't see a part number on them .... I just looked.

you guys seriously act like this is no big deal. like if that actual situation happened to any of you guys, you would be just as pissed i mean anythings a possibility. hatch falling on your head and plus if its the metal lock that hits you, it really does hurt and can cause some serious damage. i mean the only reason it did fall on me was because i was taking my spare tire out, i mean i cant hold the freakin hatch up and take the tire out at the same time. imagine having your head down there doing something and it falls down the metal part hits you on the back of the head plus that hatch easily weighs over 50lbs and falls from atleast 3 feet high, i bet any of you would be hurting...

I was thinking physics. Conservation of energy. K=(1/2)mv^2 and U=m(-g). The required pressure to fracture your skull is 400-600psi. I dont have the motivation to find the other variables and do the math but if you get a force or pressure greater than 400 then you would have a case.

I will make sure not to invite OP over to my house since stairs would have to be climbed to get to my front door.

Like wow man.

Can I have the gold around your neck?

Waaah, I got a bump on my head, I'm gonna sue Nissan for 100 million dollars for hurting my precious head! Waaah!

Like others have mentioned, grow a pair and move on with your life. Call a lawyer if random suspension linkage shear off and cause you to crash. Falling hatch due to worn struts is your fault for not replacing them.

Perhaps the lilaznxboi needs to hit the gym, that way he can hold his hatch up and stop being such a puss...

Nissan has some pretty expensive lawyers, if you bring this to them they will laugh in your face...

Like everyone else said, sack up, and move on.

It should only happen once... After it happens once, you should go get it fixed... If you dont get it fixed rite away its your problem... If you fix it and it doesnt work rite after you fix it, thats another story...

I'm going to sue Nissan for the increase in gas costs and I don't see my family as much as I did before I bought this thing... I like it too much, so I look for excuses to leave the house and drive... that's horrible, couldn't they have made a boring car like everyone else?

I can't believe I wasted a few minutes of my life to read some of the posts on this thread . . . waste a bandwidth.
