Default Will grounding kit smooth my idle?

The idle of my car seems to fluctuate just enough that i notice when i'm sitting in it. It doesn't really bother me, but i was wondering if the grounding kit makes for a smoother idle. Also, more importantly, will the grounding kit void my warranty? Thanks.

It does help with the idle some, at least mine has. And it won't void your warranty. No aftermarket part can unless they can prove that that part is what caused the problems to your car.

I see you are in the Lou, what dealership did you get your car from?

if you connect the positive to the negative, and blow up the car, your warrenty would probably be voided. thats the sorta thing, if you cause the problem by the modification.

but assuming its all done correctly, you are just adding onto a ground that already exists, the engine block is grounded to the chassis by like 16ga wire. not very efficient. your not running any positive voltage, just ground. not much that you can do wrong. or that it could even dream of breaking anything.

I still don't understand how a grounding kit is supposed to work.

I had/have the same sort of fluctuations in my idle. I installed a grounding kit and really didn't notice much of a change.

It doesn't seem to hurt anything though.

I've been following everyone's opinions on the grounding kits for a while. One question that I've come up with. Would the grounding kits have a positive effect during the break in period?

My thoughts on this would be that it reduces interference to the ECU, and doesn't the ECU pretty much adjust itself during break in?

Therefore would the grouding kit help the ECU adjust better?

I think it depends on what's causing the fluctuation. For example, if you have moisture in your fuel system, some isopropyl (sp) based dry gas might be the solution.

jleighZ: I bought the car from Bommarito off Lindbergh in the North County area. Good dealership.
