Seat airbag light: anyone know how to keep it from coming on with no seat in the car?
I PM'd bigbadblktrk because he said he had a stereo shop just wire in a resistor and then he changed his seats and no airbag light. He hasn't gotten back to me, so I wonder if any of you know?
Would it be as simple as measuring the resistance on the airbag plug itself that goes into the seat, and then just making a dummy plug with a resistor of the same resistance???

Raceboy,
I solved this problem a couple of weeks ago...I installed a Sparco Fighter seat in my Z. This company makes a little wiring loop to get rid of the light. It took me 10 minutes to install...complete piece of cake. After you install it, you just have to switch the computer to diagnostic mode and back using the key on and off sequence from the service manual, and that's it.
http://www.airbagonoff.com/ The company is called Sensible Solutions. Their technician's name is Bob, and his cell number is 301-471-7569. He's a cool guy, and he'd be happy to help you out. I didn't actually pay for the loop because I gave him a copy of the Z tech manual for free...so he sent me one free of charge...I love the barter system.
I think they cost about $25-30 though...and probably a lot easier than messing with it and buying parts for yourself. Give him a ring, tell him the situation, and that I referred you...he'll know exactly what you're looking for. Good luck.
