What products will you use on your Z?
Now that the cars are almost here for some of you, I was wondering what people will use to care for their Z. Here's a few categories (add some if I missed any) and what I plan to use as of now:
Wax: Meguiars Gold Class (I know, I know, I should try Zaino!)
Polish: Meguiars show car glaze
Leather: Lexol
Dash/plastic/rubber trim: probably Vinylex
Tires: Meguiars endurance tire gel

You should try zaino. I have used many different waxes and love the look i get from it. I have a silver prelude and i didn't think i could make it any shinier but the zaino did.

You should get all your stuff from Zaino. I have everything and it all works as advertised (www.zainobros.com).
Well, Zaino sounds great but unfortunatly I am a bit on the lazy side. Or to be more specific, I have got a lot of things that I would rather be doing than polishing my car. I am wondering if there are any shops that I can pay to use the Zaino system. It would probably be rather expensive considering the labor involved. I suspect that I am gonna use the "next best thing". Thoughts?
The new ZFx additive speeds the process up dramatically. It does not take forever and a day, maybe just a day. I can do my car (3 coats) in about 4 hours (a Zaino wash and ZFx). Also remember that Zaino is extremely easy to take off, even the black plastic/rubber trim pieces if you get a little sloppy! It does take a long time if you claybar the whole thing first, but many of you sound like you will just be washing then waxing. You can still wash then Zaino the same way, no claybar required. It will take about the same time either way. I wish you could have seen the difference after I Zaino’ed my current car after I bought it (with no claybar). Worth every penny and them some.

ZAINO! Yes, it took me an entire day (actually about 14 total hours of work) to wash, dry, clay, wash, and Zaino (3 coats each of Z5 and Z2) but that was over a month ago and the car still looks great. I have added a few coats on a few weekends since (I now have a total of 7 coats of Z5 and 7 coats of Z2 with the really fast Z6 in between each coat). The maintainance is MUCH quicker and easier than the initial time invested.
I recently got the Zaino carwash (Z7) and the tire dressing and plastic polish too. The tires look good. Haven't used the plastic polish yet.
You just can't argue with this result!

i actually go through this process 2-3 times a year:
1.basic wash with Zymol concentrate soap
2. Mother's body scrubber/cleaner (dunno real name)
3. Mother's clar bar
4. Liquid Glass by use of a real high-speed orbital polisher
5. repeat step four about 2-3 more times if needed
6. sit back and take some time to appreciate your work
just my little routine

I heard that you can only have one coat of wax on a car. The second coat of wax takes the first one off. Is this true? Also, how long would it take from start to finish to wash, wax & polish a Z car using the Zaino system. I don't think that I need to use the clay bar on a brand new car. I just want to wash, wax, polish it for the first time with a really good process. How long between waxes/polishes should I wait. Thanks.

With zaino you can apply as many layers of wax on that you want. I have four on my car right now and with every coat the shine gets deeper and stronger. I have read about some people putting up to 12 or 13. If you get the regular system you have to wait 24 hours to apply another coat. you can buy the additive which speeds up the curing time. i don't use it. just put a coat on every weekend.
if you don't clay bar it shouldn't take you that long. when i did mine the first time it was three years old and i clayed. took me a good four hours to wash - clay - wash - coat of wax. that is with waiting fro stuff to dry.
here are the steps
wash with dawn or comparable detergent (remove old wax)
dry the car
claybar
wash the car with dawn again
dry
put on zaino
wipe off
for just a wash and another coat i would say 1.5 hours with drying time.
the great thing about zaino is that you don't have to use a buffer. it goes on dries and off really easy.
finally zaino being synethtic lasts about twice as long as a normal wax. so if you put a little time in the beginning you will get it back in the long run.

How easy is "Meguiars Glass" to use. I have used other Meguiars products and they seem to be pretty easy to use. I just want the best possible shine on a Chrome Silver car. I know it won't look as good as a black car when I am finished but I still want it to look good. Thanks.
I used to be a die hard Meguires user till I tried Mothers products. The results were the same (Pearl White Z32), but the application and buffing processes were much eaiser. The Mothers wiped off really easy whereas the Meguires took some effort.
Don't know about performance of Meguires vs Mothers on dark cars, but I currently have a super dark green Maxima (looks black unless its in sunlight), and really like the results from Mothers.
Takes about 2-3 hours for wash, clay bar and 3 coats of Mothers.

Their "Gold Class" line including: Gold Class Car Wash,
Gold Class Liquid Wax (so easy to apply and remove it's almost ridiculous!) Gold Class Leather Cleaner, Gold Class All Purpose Cleaning Wipes, and Gold Class Rich Leather Wipes all of which I use! And I will tell you that I personally "CLAYED" my car (a clay-substance that removes oxidation, grime, and paint imperfections) almost 3 years ago and have not had to clay it since due to the extremely slick surface my Lexus maintains! I recieved absolutely rave reviews and comments at the recent Dallas Hot Import Nights Car Show recently! And when people find out my car is a 1998 model, the expression is always the same..............

I really think you should try all proucts yourself. I am a zaino user and i have tried all other waxes. I like zaino because of the particular look it gives and its long lasting nature. The winters in canada are long and I need something that will protect the car.
the best way i can describe the difference between synthetic waxes like zaino and natural like the caranuba based wax is that the synthetic gives the car a more or a hard shell like reflective apperance. whereas the natural waxes give the car more of a wet look - it is not as reflective but it is deeper in apperance.
i have attached a black car that is done with zaino. try a couple different products - everything has its pluses and minuses and it is really up to personal taste.
