350Z Service Notices to Dealers
My Dealer told me today that there were already some service notices on the 350Z. One was as simple as "if the passenger side seat belt rattles when no one is sitting in the seat, fasten the seat belt". But a couple of the others which I was unaware were, a tow hook will come stowed in the rear and can be attached to the front for use. And another, the transmission dip stick will be bolted in place, with service provided by the dealer with a special fluid. Is this an April Fool's joke on me?

You got to be kidding!
What is so hard about servicing the transmission fluid yourself? Special fluid? I can buy that from them. Forced to take it into a Nissan dealership only to have someone else mess with your car and pay a little more. Geesh. I didn't know Nissan would go that low to increase revenue.
Am I reading this right? Please clarify if I am misunderstanding it.

Tow Hook
Okay, but I hope I never will be in a situation where I have to rely on the tow company to remember to attach a tow hook. I had my current car accidently towed before and I don't think the tow company always observes good towing protocol (from watching them tow other cars in the lot).
Dip Stick
Sure. I'll take their word for it for now. I'm sure if it proves to be serviceable by the ordinary home mechanic that someone will post the info sooner or later. But tranny fluid isn't something you got to replace every 3 months like oil so no biggy.
So all in all... not a big deal... nothing to worry about. If they had service notices like. "If steering wheel falls off, reattach with super glue before buyer notices." then I'd be pretty bummed out.

The Automatic Tranmission uses special Transmission Fluid. This is the only reason why they bolted the dip stick down. You can unbolt if you want to check the fluid level.
The 350Z Manual Says:
Use only Genuine Nissan ATF Matic
Fluid J or exact equivalent*. Do not
mix with other fluids.
*Currently available exact equivalents to
Genuine Nissan ATF Matic Fluid J are
Castrol Trans-max J or IDEMITSU ATF HP.
The specified automatic transmission fluidis also described on caution labels located in the engine compartment.
From my preliminary research, Castrol Trans-max J is not readily available.
So much for putting in trick shift or other standard AT transmision fluids....
