Forza's representation of the Elise was horrible.

Could you justify paying over $700 a month for a used Lotus with no warranty or just keep the Z and make it better?
There are many more cons with the elise:
- $900 oil changes, as well as typical ferrari prices for maintenance
- If you get into any slight accident you have to replace the entire claim (these are on a 6 month back order and cost between 10K-20K) so your car will be totalled
- British Engineering (or lack there of)
- NO SPACE (lugage or cabin room)
- Porche prices for mods

All this being said, I've spent a lot of time in the elise and would love to have one of my own

I would hope so, otherwise everyone would probably want one.

Still, I know 100x more about Forza than I probably ever will about real driving, so I stand by my uninformed opinion.

Please explain why an oil change would be $900.

It's probably $150 oil change and tune up = 900. It might be like a Ferrari where they have to pull the motor to change a timing belt and do the plugs.... LOL !!!! I'll keep my Z especially with the timing chain now. Unlike my old Z with the belts every 60K. So, I'm expecting mine to go at least 250K before any major work as my old Z made it to 225K and ran like a top with a hot turbo under there.

I do understand the body parts and panels issue...... That's just insane !!!!!

i just test drove an elise yesterday... one word, Amazing! The elise does not have that much more handling than our z's with sways. It is a little sharper with the turning. Also, the lotus does not have power steering, which is quite nice because the steering feels realy firm and controlled. What I love is having the targa top off, being very low to the ground, the sweet sound of the motor/exhaust, and the you get people braking the neck all day! If I had the funds I would buy this car as my DD any day. It is just a blast to drive. I dont care about how rough or how hard it takes to get in and out of! Buy the damn thing if you are a true sports car enthusiast! by the way, they told me oil changes are around $300.00.

The Elise looks awesome but a test drive convinced me that I didn't need a go cart. As a forth or fifth car it would be fun but as a daily driver or in a bad climate, it doesn't make sense.

I can't believe an oil change costs 300 or more since it has a toyota engine? Is this true? If so, another reason to stay with a Z

Personally I'm biased to say the Z At the same time though I've seen the Lotus and it seems to be a very fun car. It all comes down to personal preference, no matter which way you go you'll end up with a nice ride; you really can't go wrong with either IMO.

It doesn't cost $300 to change the oil (or if a dealer does charge that, take it somewhere else). It's very easy to change the oil on an Elise/Exige, so unless you're completely mechanically retarded, or live in a place where you cannot work on your car, it's a simple DYI.

seriously. Because I know it isn't 300 dollars for an oil change in a celica GT-S. And it's the same engine.

elise= mods (expensive ones), no room, not as good as looks as z, fun track car on a tight circuit

exige= no mods, expensive insurance/maintenance, crazy good track car (watch the top gear episode exige vs. apache helicopter!)

z= mods (cheaper), good looks, more practical, fun track car all around tight or open

I dont know about an oil change being 900, but the pops used to own the 2000 esprit twin turbo...and with that lotus you needed to actually lift the engine out of the car in order to change the oil (thats the only way to do it) but im not sure if the procedure is the same with regards to an elise. if it is, then that figure probably isnt too far off.

TRUST ME, my buddy did the exact thing you did. He went from a Z to an Elise and he HATED it. Have you sat in an Elise? If so, I'm sure you realize that there is absolutely no room in these things. Not to mention they are a complete ***** to get in and out of. My friend only had it for a few months before he just had to sell it and get a Viper SRT-10. Now that thing has a lot of room in it, and also *****, something the Elise doesn't have.

If the Elise would be your DD then FORGET ABOUT IT.

Elise is only for rich *** ****'s that go to the track once every month or so and that's IT.

If you do end up getting the Elise you'll be kicking yourself in a few months and I'll have to say I told you so.

Your buddy needs to be smarter. And yes, I have sat in one. No probs.
