1. Back car up on Rhino ramps or equivalent.
2. Unbolt rear panel with 8mm wrench (11 bolts) and hex wrench (2 bolts).
3. Loosen drain plug and drain oil. Replace crush washer and reinstall.
4. Reach up and twist oil filter off. Replace.
5. Fill with 4 1/2 qt of 5W-40 full synthetic.
6. Check for leaks.
7. Replace rear panel.
8. Drive off ramp.
Total time: 30 minutes taking your time.

My hopes are to replace my Z with a elise. I DD my Z from Spring to Fall and its a rough ride in some places but its so worth it and i love every minute of it, and i cant wait to change that to an elise. If you have the means, do it.

Here are pics of my elise. This is my daily driver. The only hard thing is the lack of storage, however a Z does not have much more. Once you are in the Elise its very comforitable. Getting in and out its a PIA with the top on if your bigger than 5 ft 6, 140 lbs, LOL.
Driving it every day is wonderful. The only thing I hate is all the attention. You can never sit at a redlight and look at anyone, they will wind down the window, hit the horn and do every thing to get your attention. You will get so many comments, it will get old very fast. I have had my car for 2 years and I will be supercharging it soon.
The Z is a great car for the every day sportscar. One of the best. The Lotus is more of a niche car, something its more special and semi-exotic. Both have + and -. I always think that the Elise is the offspring of a Ferrari and S2000. Good luck with your decision, the elise is fantastic if you can deal with too much attention, high insurance and very expensive repairs. Dont crack the front clam, you will be sorry

Could you justify paying over $700 a month for a used Lotus with no warranty or just keep the Z and make it better?
Either way, the Z is a great car. The question is, what do you want out of the car?

The Elise is just a nice-looking car. Period. On the other hand, the Zed is a GREAT-looking car, PLUS it's a reliable one. Check out the April issue of CR, &
