Default how to open trunk w/o remote!!!!

has anyone tried to open the trunk with the hatch release under the strut bar. I have the battery disconnected (doing some installs) so i can't use the remote or the trunk release above the rear license plate. i looked in the manual to see which way to pull the cord, but nothing seems to work. it says it will release the trunk even with the car off and battery disconnected incase of emergency, but mine doesn't seem to work. i've pulled hard on the string while a friend pulls up and down on the trunk, but nothing. need help please

has anyone else had this problem. what would you recommend. how did you get it to work.

thanks
tony

It doesn't take that much force to pull the hatch release. I did it once and had no problem. Didn't need anyone yanking on the trunk from the outside. Good luck.

Seems like there might be something wrong with yours.

Ok, I just tried mine today for the first time. I pulled it until I felt as if it was going to slice my finger off then I stopped.

So then I let my 16-year old daughter try and she used both hands and got it open.

With that said.....I think you should just try a bit harder because I got shown up by a 16-year old!!

In playing with mine, I figured out not to put my finger in the square hole, because it will cut your finger off. Just grab back where the velcro is and pull.

I agree. Don't stick your finger in the square hole and pull or else your finger will get cut off

I think the angle you pull at also has alot to do with it. Pull straight down and it takes alot of force. Pull to the right of the car and it was easier. (or the other way around, I can't remember)
