I'm really surprised at all the Sky Redline love in here. I have both an 03 z and an 08 Sky Redline. THAT I BOUGHT FOR MY GIRLFRIEND!! Don't get me wrong its got nice line and its pretty quick (not fast)but its weighs like nothing and I still blow the doors of it every time we race. I not fi (yet ) just the basic bolt ons and no racing skills to brag about and it seriously isn't much of a race. Its a great chic car. I'm alway a bit embarassed driving. Maybe cause I'm a little to tall for it. I'm only 6'2 but everything in that car is made for little people. My girl does look hot driving it though.

Don't get skunked by a Saturn. It will run better than 14.00 seconds.

Oh yeah, the manual top is the easiest thing in the world and quick to change back. Would be cool if it was automatic but really the biggie at all

I'm a bit late responding, but yes you are correct. There are very subtle differences between the two other then the body style. Both vehicle lines come with two models the base (non turbo) and the Redline/GXP (turbo). Last year was really only the first year that the GXP and Redline's where out competing at the tracks. Look for there to be some pretty big improvements on them this year now that people know what to expect with them.

I actually test drove one before my 350z... It is a nice car... The quality was a lot better than i expected.... It has improved since GM took over Saturn.. However the materials such as trim and controls are not as quality as in the 350Z in my opinion... It handles great.... But doesnt have the growling exhaust... To me it is a perfect car for a girl(if that is what they want)... The 350 is more of a beefy car.... (Ladies im not saying its a guys car.. LOL) In the end.. I chose the Z for those reasons and i got a killer rebate on my close out 07 model..

I saw in a recent magazine that they're releasing a targa top solstice. I think the sky redline would look pretty sweet with a targa top treatment.

I still hate that chrome frame around the windshield though...

I think the Sky and the Solstice are pretty nice looking cars and turbo charged the do 0-60 in 5.6 seconds so 03-05 350Zs maybe hard pressed to beat them 0-60, non turbo Skys or Pontiac are in the Miata class 0-60. Don't know if even the Turbo can keep up past 60mph I don't think there 1/4 or 0-100 numbers are as fast as the Zs.

I don't like the chrome piping going around all the gauges and trim in the Solstice they are slick looking roadsters but I think the Miata are cheaper and built better through not as fast if the Gms are Turbos. It is a slick soft top that handles well I'd like to see some side by side track performance against the Mx5 or Honda S2k.

And even if they are faster turbo charged then the 03-05 Zs they are not as well built and don't have the "IT" factor that the Z has. I wouldn't mind playing around in a Sky (they say its interior better then the Pontiac) or Solstice for a day but I'd still buy a Miata and definitely a 350Z over the GMs.

Though I've heard of a V8 engine swap that makes these cars a Monster of the midway, but I'd still rather have a Corvette if I just had have a V8 or wanted to spend that kind of money.

I do think that at least GM is trying to give an option to there just family sedan and coupes, and thats a good idea. Again the Mx5 and 350ZR shows there is a market for a slick Roadster.

I did not know you were an SCCA fan. But you are correct; the Sky and Z are not in the same class. The SCCA ranks the Sky in a higher stock class than the 350Z.

Sky Redline: A Stock
350Z: B Stock

Sky Redline: A Stock

x2 and there are many who are a little upset about the Redline/GXP still being allowed to compete in the A stock class when equiped with the clubsport option
