i bought 2 cars from this my350z site unseen. they were both perfect. i think its nice buying a car from the forum because people post every single thing that has gone wrong with their car. you get a complete history of the car by tracing back the seller's posts.

Yeah. Guy who bought my BMW had full disclosure of everything. I had posted every issue I had, my solutions, written DIY's on stuff that was a bit out of the ordinary, and had a pretty comprehensive list of records to match everything I'd listen online. Then he had a starting point when stuff went wrong on the car. Still driving at over 200k now...

That said - inadequate research when buying a car on the forums will lead to issues like this.

^^^^I agree and the OP might not have done enough research but mostly the SELLER kind of screwed him by not being completely honest. I have bought a few things off here and I have been fairly active on this forum, although there is alot of sarcasm and ball busting 99% of these guys I've met are good dudes.

I know, I'm not blaming him entirely. I spent 2 hours on the phone talking to the buyer of my car going through everything - it WAS however posted on the forum. The only thing wrong with my car when I sold it was a part I'd ordered that was on backorder, and was held in by 4 bolts, takes 10 minutes to change, so he didn't care. The problem here, is he asked if the clutch was ok and the guy lied. If I was buying the car I would ask if it had been replaced recently and if it hadn't, assumed it would be a good idea to either have a shop perform a PPI, or build in the replacement cost.

the point was to save money because it is still money I didnt have nor do I now. I also just found out my car is stuck in toronto and I am in edmonton alberta. because it doesnt run anymore they are not allowed to load it onto the train. now I have to wait for another month and its an extra 500 bucks to continue shipping it. I am incredibly mad now.

I'd recommend keeping an e-mail correspondence as best as possible (keeps times, dates, and remarks clear) but also call him. Record or take notes of the conversation and whats said. Shoot him an e-mail after to say "just wanted to confirm x, y, and z" so that you have the digital record as well. Calling is going to seem much more sincere and its harder to lie over the phone. E-mail for court, call for expediency.

ok so i got my car 2 days ago and when they said needs new clutch they were right. you can sit and shift threw every gear with out using the clutch as if you had the clutch in there is absolutly nothing left of it. rather then that the car is in nicer shape then what I expected. but the passenger side window has a leveling problem when i put it up with auto it comes back down.
