With a police report like that, you are gonna need an attorney if you want the P.O. to pay for anything. Regular driving laws don't apply to this scenario. Just be happy you weren't jailed for delaying the mail.

Also, on a side note, the OP sounds like a whiny, spoiled, immature, overindulged mama's boy biznatch judging from his constant bourgeois insults to the mailman (and postal workers overall) and the entire "it's not my fault, woe is me" milieu of his post. I'm only guessing here but I doubt at 18, his Z and his trip to the DR are funded out of his own pocket.

And OP, calm down, while what you have is repairable, that mailman might lose his job and livelihood over this.

^^^ agree completely.

My father is a mailman, and turning in front of one like that is considered cutting him off, the way I see it you are very lucky the cop did not put you at fault for the entire accident, and that the mailman did not kick your a$$.

If I was driving a Z I'd be a little more careful of my driving, but I guess that behavior is a little harder to instill in some 18 year old whose sports car is handed to him on a silver platter by his parents. Maybe one day when you earn something by your own merit you will take care of it more properly.

What's the world coming to when you can't even reply on someone to look up before the start driving in a vehicle?

One car is going straight, the other turns in front of it... commons sense tells one to be sure the person going straight whom you are cutting in front of is aware you are doing so.... classic case of dual fault imho.

OP said:

9/10'ths of the way into my driveway, he decides to step on the gas (not looking at the road, and NOT even listening.

Doesn't sound like he was moving when the OP turned in front of him and in fact it sounds like the OP was almost all the way into his driveway (based on where he was hit) when the mailman decided he had eyeballs in the top of his head. If this is the case, I'm with the OP not being at fault regardless of his age and how he got his car.

+1 But try to relax OP. You have a much better chance at resolving this if you are mature about this. I am speaking from experience because I use to get all pissed off and violent. Nothing comes good out of it.

And because he may lose his job, the cop on duty should give dual fault? that makes sense.

The postman was stopped and not moving. If he decides to not look up when moving forward then that is HIS fault. if he had looked up he would have seen that i was already 90% of the way into the driveway.

ne was NOT MOVING AT ALL

If the op was 9/10 of the way into his driveway, shouldn't he have been looking forward and not back at the mailman?
How could he have known that the mailman wasn't looking if he was looking forward?

quite exactly, im now pulling up and getting ready to go into the garage, thinking im already past the postman. i started going past him well before he even started moving... if he had just looked up he would have seen me. My god, what if it was a little girl on a bike instead of the rear corner of my car?

he caught me behind the wheel even!

Hey, what you and your girlfriend do behind closed doors is your own business. No need to discuss it here.

Not bothering with changing this thread, but I put up 1/3 of my car. The other 24k came from each parent.

1/3, 1/3, and 1/3.

Hated my parents for making me save 25% of every paycheck, allowance, birthday gift, etc... loving it now.
