And so it begins-- the first Accident :(
Well, where to begin where to begin.
as a prelude, this happened ONE day before I was headed to the Dominican Republic. Nothing was terribly damaged and no one was hurt.. so here it goes:
Where I live, i turn onto my street (left turn) and then IMMEDIATELY make a right into my driveway, after about twenty yards.
The accident happened because the f*cking mailman was putting mail in my mailbox, and wasnt paying attention. I make the left hand turn, see him right in front of my driveway, and pass him and head into my driveway immediately. you know where im going with this, yup.
Ever seen one of those worthless mailman just keep their head down getting the next houses mail ready while they inch forward? yup. i got one of those bastards.
9/10'ths of the way into my driveway, he decides to step on the gas (not looking at the road, and NOT even listening. i have a modded fkin exhaust, that sh*t is loud.) he catches my rear corner panel, ont he bumper, behind the rear right wheel. NO dent, only paint and fiberglass damage.
Understand, im 18 and this f*cker just hit my car while my girlfriend was in the passenger seat and my friend saw everything from the front window in my house. It took all of my willpower for me not to jam the newspaper he just delivered back down his throat.
get this though- The cop that was doing the claim filed it as a dual fault accident. HA. that worthless idiot is trying to have me pay for the damage that the POSTMAN did, when he was in the wrong 150%.
I mean come on, what if it was a little girl on a bike that was right in front of his car? whos fault would it be then? he hit the BACK CORNER of my car, not like i cut him off or anything.
I swear i will sh*t on someones chest if my car isnt fixed by our federal governments postal service.

Well atleast it was a business that hit you. When I got hit by a garbage truck, I got my cash to fix my Z in about 2 days. Ive had to wait a few weeks for some broke *** ins companies from privates to pay up.

Keep your animosity down toward postmen. Hate on this guy cuz he was being irresponsible. You don't know who delivers mail for a living on here.
What he was doing is called "fingering" the mail between boxes...you are NOT supposed to do that just for this reason. The post office better take care of you.

The way you explain it makes you guilty as you failed to yield the right away while making a turn and the guy hit you while going straight? Sounds like both of you were at fault then. You for failure to yield and him for not seeing you cut him off. A person going straight on the road always has the right of way over someone turning. Glad there was little damage.
the image i have in my head from the way you explained it shows it not being your FAULT but could have been AVOIDED. I am VEERRY careful with the way i drive because i know there are dumb *** people out there. I would have slowly went around the mailman and MADE SURE he saw me before pulling in front of him. not your fault but could have been avoided. good luck.
You should have yielded the right of way or could have taken steps to avoid the accident (you seemed to have assumed a lot about what the mailman would do). Sounds like a classic case of dual fault to me.
Technically if he hit your car on the side, even if he wasnt looking you took his legal right of way. You should have waited for him to see you (eye contact) and proceed or just waited another 10 seconds and let him by. You = fail

Glad to hear you and your passenger were not hurt.
